4: "Something is fishy here" Tsukiji (Japan’s Fish Market) where they auction all kinds of fish | Namiyoke-Jinja Shinto Shrine

5: Senso-Ji Temple Asakusa neighborhood

6: More Senso-Ji Temple and Pagoda | To the right, Nakamise Dori (an outdoor shopping street) and Asakusa-Jinja Shrine

8: Taiyuin is where Iemitsu is buried. His grandfather, Tokugawa Ieyasu, established the Shogunate (Samurai clan) that ruled Japan until the Meiji restoration in 1868 | Nikko

10: Tosho-Gu - Highly ornated burial place for Tokugawa Ieyasu who established the order of the Samurai

11: In Nikko, we also saw Rinno-Ji which is a temple with three large golden Buddha

13: On the train to Kyoto, we spotted the magnificent Mt. Fuji

14: KYOTO Household shrine | Beautiful gardens, shrines and temples make Kyoto an amazing place to explore

17: Foxes are gate protectors | Torii Gates stretch for over 4km through the mountains

18: Interesting monk figures we spotted wondering Kyoto's peculiar streets

19: Tofukuji (one of the main Zen temples) and Chion Temple | Chion temple was built on the side of a hill with gorgeous views from every direction

20: Kyoto's Imperial Palace | Kyoto's Imperial garden within the palace complex

22: NARA One of the hundreds of “sacred” deer that walk freely around the park looking for food

23: Todaji Temple Inside, it has the largest (gilded) bronze Buddha in the world | In Nara, we also visited Kofukuji temple, which has a 5 story pagoda, and the Kasuga Taisha Shrine

24: Back to Kyoto | Rokuon Ji Temple | The complex includes Japanese gardens and a Golden Temple set over a pond surrounded by nature

25: We spotted some Geishas in Arashiyama area | Bamboo forest that took us a while to find!

26: Kyoto has thousands of temples and Osaka has thousands of neon lights Exploring Namba area walking along the river

27: Osaka Jo castle is inside a beautiful park. This castle, like the one in Kyoto, belonged to the Samurai ruling the country until the Meiji restoration. We later took a stroll around the Tennoji area where we saw some more shrines and temples. After a delicious Indian meal, we took the 3 hour bullet train back to Tokyo for the final leg of our trip.
