FC: Motorhoming! 2012
Motorhoming! 2012 After a trip to British Columbia by car (we wanted to be more mobile as it was partly an orientation trip), we finally started camping on June 1. In the 4 months that followed we spent 45 nights in the motorhome, a record to date! Nico only worked during the week this year, so we went away almost every weekend and usually for 3 nights. Besides one trip to Riding Mountain National Park (Clear Lake), Manitoba, we spent all the weekends in our beautiful Saskatchewan Provincial Parks. After the BC trip (and with the high gas prices ;), we didn't feel like driving far most of the time, and had much camping fun in parks only 1 or 2 hours away. It wasn't about discovering new places this year, but more about revisiting (close-by) places we love and we visited several parks multiple times. We also enjoyed the company of friends several times! We ended the season at the end of September with a 9 day trip, including a fantastic week at Cypress Hills! So nice and quiet after season, still great weather and we saw lots of wildlife - including our first Saskatchewan moose (was about time)!! | Greenwater Lake
Greenwater Lake Provincial Park, June 1-5 For our first camping trip we decided to go back to Greenwater Lake, it had been a while! We picked a site on the most secluded campground, Cranberry, but even though it was still pretty quiet, we didn't get to see any bears or other big wildlife. | Penny
 marina | beach cafe
Douglas Provincial Park, June 15-18 It was still quiet at Douglas and the weather was nice on Saturday, but we had rain on most of the Sunday. The background photo was taken after the rain, the water levels of Lake Diefenbaker were very low! | Smokey
for Rob! | the ground squirrels risking their lives ;) | low water levels on the beach
Riding Mountain National Park, June 29-July 3 Our first camping trip to Manitoba! Wasagaming is a pretty resort town, much like Waskesiu in SK, on Clear Lake in RMNP. Our Dauphin friends Iwan, Christine and Gwen came to visit us, and at the visitor centre we met Carolien who we know from a Dutch forum, what are the odds?! We missed most of the Canada Day celebrations, either because we had to move sites and some things were in Onanole, which was too far away without a car. We did go on a boat trip with the Martese! On the last day we toured through the park to Moon Lake for a picnic, and visited friends Anneke and Dries near Russell on our way back home.
the second campsite we moved to on the 1st
 boat trip on the Martese
Riding Mountain | Moon Lake | visiting Anneke and Dries
Crooked Lake Provincial Park, July 20-23 A small site with (2nd row) lake view! The Huiskes family (Anne, Tim, Amber & Jesse) joined us for a night.
 breakfast! | geocaching
 Crooked Lake
Douglas Provincial Park, July 27-31 Back to Lake Diefenbaker for the 2nd time this year (with the Huiskes family again for one night) to meet with our Moose Jaw friends Gordon and Lorraine! | normal water levels again | spotted towhee | Gord, Lorraine, Laureen, George, Nico (G&L's 40th anniversary!) | 2nd site (we had to switch twice)
a squirrel came to nibble on Nico's toe! | spacious site for the last 2 nights
Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, August 4-7 First time at the fairly new Trails End campground, but we had to start with an unserviced night on Valley View. Not liking the open site, but we did hear coyotes yipping on or right by the campground at night. Trails End was great though! When we had to switch sites, we drove to the Buffalo Range in the park! | Valley View
 Trails End
Rowan's Ravine Provincial Park, August 11-13 A short camping weekend at Last Mountain Lake on an open but spacious site on the Elmwood campground. | with the baby shih-tzu of neighbours
bike ride, geocaching in Uhl's Bay, back via Island View
Echo Valley Provincial Park, August 17-21 4 nights on a beautiful campground just an hour from home in the Qu'Appelle valley. Downside of being on top of the hill (Valley View) is that the beach/lake is far away (big hill to conquer when walking or biking back). On Sunday we had the Huiskes and the Bos families over for a BBQ! The cats also had fun climbing the trees, which gave us some good laughs when they'd jump off a branch on the wrong side and end up dangling in their harnesses. Laughs and pics first, then rescue ;)
 Echo Lake
 Crooked Lake
Crooked Lake Provincial Park, August 25-28 Back to Crooked Lake for a waterfront site, camping doesn't get any better than that! | turkey vulture
 bike ride
Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, September 7-10 Back to Buffalo for some after season fun with Gord & Lorraine and George & Laureen! Trails End was still open, this time we ended up on some waterfront sites! Open, but wonderful view! | Gord brought one of his cats, Buster | Tess and Gordon
western grebe | heron | son Graham came to visit birthday girl Lorraine
Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, September 14-17 3's a charm! Back @ Buffalo after 4 days for one more fall weekend (oh the colours!!) at Trails End. At first we went back to the same waterfront site, but the wind was too strong there, so we moved up the hill a bit. Gord came to visit on Saturday! | so where am I supposed to sleep?!
Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park & more, September 21-30 Ending the camping season with a 9 day trip!! First to Moose Jaw for Marlies's birthday, then to Cypress Hills for 6 nights. So nice and quiet after season, beautiful lodgepole pine trees and we saw 3 moose, a coyote and lots of deer and squirrels! On the 28th we drove to Saskatoon to see RUSH, who put on a fantastic 3 hour show! Then to Wakaw to visit our friends the Molendijks and finally home sweet home on the 30th! | birthday supper with Gord @ Bobby's Place in Moose Jaw | visiting Lorraine at the liquor store
