S: Grand Palladium Punta Cana 2012
BC: Adios Amigos!
FC: Grand Palladium Punta Cana August 2012
Again feeling blessed to have enjoyed my 6th Caribbean trip and the second to Punta Cana. Our good weather fortune finally ran out as it rained for half of our trip. This means no raccoon eyes and no sunburn! I do resolve to learn Spanish beyond my current vocabulary - cerveza, quatro, bano and loco!
Our trip started with a night in Cincinnati and Newport on the Levee - we had so much fun racing in the bounce house!
Playa Bavaro 2012 does not disappoint with white sand beaches, turquoise water, palm trees and a merengue soul. Our week started on Friday, August 3 from Cincinnati on Sunwing with a late resort arrival around 11:00 pm. We became acquainted with Ernesto, a tropical storm, but luckily he just graced Bavaro Beach and moved west to Mexico.
Saturday was a rain day so we ate a la carte at Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse - very delicious! We were served skewers of chicken, pork, steak, lamb, vegetables with especial sauces.
Sunday Funday we get to enjoy the beach - the water is murky with seaweed and chilly (or should I say refreshing), all compliments of Ernesto. Pedro sells us on parasailing on Bavaro Beach for 1 "Dominican Minute" | which equals about 20 minutes. We flew high above the coconut trees. We played volleyball and met people from Spain, Canada and PA!
We dined at Sumptuori, a Hibachi Steakhouse - meow meow! Very entertaining, great service and the food was seasoned up with Dominican Coca Cola sauce!
Hanging out at the pool bar
Monday Ray signs us up for a 90 minute Vacation Club promotion although we spend 4 hours there - sounds very tempting to buy 100 weeks of vacation - since you have to use it right my amigo? We decline after deliberation - maybe next year. Kids spend some time in Kids Club and we enjoy our complimentary massage with exotic oils. Tonight we eat at the Tratorria and had terrible service . We got some of our mojo back and hit the theater for the Circus - my favorite was the tall man.
Drink Stands | Girls are Victorious!! | Rachel's Turkey! | Beach Bocce Cornhole!
We had the Cantina Mariachi and it was very good - but Brady got sick at dinner :( | Tuesday is overcast so we lay around the pool/beach and read 50 Shades of Grey - okay it is hard to put down!
Wednesday we woke up to a Dominican downpour that lasted all day. Mimosas for breakfast put smiles on. Today we opted for the 'free shopping trip' and ended up walking about a mile back to our resort! We had dinner at the Italian buffet and saw the Dominican Divas show - Shakira can shake it!
Thursday the sun found its way back to us and we had a blast on the beach and found the POP (People of Palladium) for some horseshoes in the sand. We walked to the edge of the resort for shopping - Ay Carumba! - Not the best experience, high pressure and nothing is priced but everything "good price, cheapy cheapy". Souvenirs were not very eye catching.
We booked an excursion to Dolphin Island Park to swim with the dolphins and snorkel with nurse sharks and sting rays. Brady loved it! The dolphins sang to us, clapped, kissed us and let us pet them. Beautiful animals!
We had our customary quatro mamajuana shots at dinner but they were very strong to finish! We celebrated Rachel's birthday with a mariachi serenade then hit the beach party - dancing all night in the sand! Very enjoyable final lingering moments. We traveled Friday at 730am until 11:00pm!
Brady's Favorite Vacation Memories: 1. Dolphin Island 2. Dominican Divas Show 3. Sunwing Flight 4. Hibachi Dinner 5. Pool
Mamajuana | American Bikini! | My kind of shopping! - wine in hand! | Mangrove
Farkas Family | Sunwing is awesome! | Dolphin Island | Guiding the Gamer!
