20: Our road trip was off to a rocky start with a dead car battery and an unscheduled stop in Merced to replace it. However, We had a wonderful time on Oregon's coast. We stayed in Newport two nights (July 11-12) and as the pictures showed, explored Yaquina Bay Lighthouse and the state beach. We thought the Bay Bridge was beautiful and fell in love with the miles and miles of undeveloped coastline. On our way to Portland we drove through Lincoln City and stopped at their outlets to shop. Like Newport. Lincoln City was another beautiful coastal town. While in Newport, Ryan and the kids got to experience a Fred Myers for the first time. | We spent the weekend (July 13-14) in Beaverton, a suburb of Portland, Oregon. Ryan played in a tennis tournament and Zachary participated in the free clinic that was hosted at the tournament. On Saturday we walked the downtown riverfront and took in the culture of the Portland Saturday Market. We ate, shopped, and walked around the city. The weather was beautiful and the market was packed. Upon returning to Beaverton, we were able to sneak onto the grounds of Nike Headquarters as the gates were open for an event. We drove around the facility and were very impressed.

31: ELEPHANTS AT PATARA FARM | November 12 | We spent the day walking around Boise State University. Both the city and the campus were much prettier than we expected. Although we did not have the time to explore much of the academic buildings, we were impressed with the athletic facilities and the student union. The football field alone leaves a lasting impression and the hall of fame was amazing.
