FC: PORTFOLIO | Spain - September 2012 Roger & Mary Hamilton

The Alhambra: Completed in mid-1300s, Alhambra Palace is an Arab masterpiece; an historic palace-fortress complex situated on a picturesque hilltop in Granada, Spain.

Once the residence of the Nasrid Sultans and top government officials, the Alhambra also housed court servants and the royal guard.

Constantly undergoing restoration efforts; costs already surpass almost 4 million dollars...

Málaga's history spans about 2,800 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. It is also the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and Antonio Banderas. Boasting various beautiful beaches such as Playa Palo, and Playa Huellin.

Where it all started 42 years ago...

That unsuspecting day where a shy young sailor met a beautiful young woman, Gibraltar is located on the southern coast of Spain in Western Europe and has a peak of 1400 ft. John Lennon & Yoko Ono tied knot 3/20/1969 here...same year as Roger & Mary were married (9/6/1969)

Barbary macaques are descended from North African populations of Barbary macaques. Legend has it that as long as these monkeys inhabit Gibraltar, it will be under British rule.

St. Michaels' Cave is a network of limestone caves located in the Upper Rock Nature Reserve of Gibraltar, at a height of over 985 ft. above sea level.

González Byass is one of Spain's most well-known sherry bodegas. Located in Jerez, its origins can be traced to 1835 when the business was started by Manuel María González Angel, who was subsequently joined by his English agent, Robert Blake Byass. The González family assumed sole control of the business in 1988. The firm produces the fino sherry Tío Pepe.

The Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballeria de Sevilla is a mouthful, but beyond this long name is a magnificent Seville bullring that is the oldest in Spain. It was completed in 1785. Built of local sandstone the delicacy of line of the arched double gallery in the bullring covering the entire public area recalls the circular patio of the Palace of Charles V in the Alhambra.

Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis, and is approximately 2,200 years old. Although it has a strong mediaeval, renaissance and baroque heritage, the city was greatly influenced by Arabic culture..... it also happens to be where Mary graduated from High School!

Jerz de la Frontera has been inhabited by humans since at least the Copper or Neolithic Age. Having a strong identity as a center for wine, flamenco, horses, and popular festivals has contributed to its success...and as you can see offers some good beer, too!
