FC: Shoshone Ice Caves

 s

Ice. Rocks. | The cave was really quite cool (and cold too).

Not sure how well you can see this, but ice crystals had formed all over the walls of the cave.

One thing we got to see a lot of today was volcanic rock. Here is some of it now. I'm guessing that in other pictures, you'll see a lot more of it.

Apparently, as the tour guide so knowingly told us, these statues represent the cave men (not the Shoshones) and are built to scale. These peoples lived only 18-20 years because, again as our informed tour guide told us, "they didn't have medicines and education like we do."

All in all, it was a very interesting cave. Yet, our friend the tour guide mumbled into the cave, rather than talking to us, said very little (almost nothing really), asked hesitantly if there were any questions (which was plain as day that he didn't want to have to answer, and gennerally made us laugh.
