BC: "Hey Jay, get a picture of my ass." - Drew Thompson

FC: Yosemite: Summer 2011

"Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer. Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature's darlings. Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. As age comes on, one source of enjoyment after another is closed, but nature's sources never fail." --John Muir

"It is better to have your head in the clouds, and know where you are... than to breathe the clearer atmosphere below them, and think that you are in paradise." --Henry David Thoreau

"There is nothing so American as our national parks.... The fundamental idea behind the parks...is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us." - Teddy Roosevelt

“Nature and books belong to all who see them.” --Ralph Waldo Emerson

 On the Trail

"Why are there trees I never walk under but large and melodious thoughts descend upon me?" --Walt Whitman

"Today was a good Dad day" _ Dennis Thompson

Don Deglau: aka "The Mule" Where most would carry 30-40 lbs, Don felt much more at home with 184. 181 of which consisted of food. He currently lives in China with his secret wife and 14 children, most of which work in his sweatshop. | Jason Deglau: aka "Dr. Retro" Jason prides himself on outdated gear. On this trip he used a pack from 1982 and slept on a pool float from Walmart. He once tried to climb Everest wearing only wool socks and a loin cloth made from baboon skin. He did not summit, | Nick Thompson: aka "Jenny Craig" Nick began his journey in a remote area know as "Los Angeles" where most of his rations were depleted. By the time he reached Yosemite, he hiked with nothing more than a raisin, 6 croutons and a pixie stick. Along the trail, he ate bugs, twigs, and rare leftovers from his brother. He lost 27 pounds. | Drew Thompson: aka "Snake Charmer" Able to lure rattle snakes into the open trail at altitudes well above their natural habitat, Drew affects an air of manliness, even when he was shrieking and wiggling his hands vigorously at the sight of wildlife. Drew has recently opened his own gym for like-minded outdoorsmen: Cobra Crossfit; Dublin, CA. | Dennis Thompson: aka "The Lush" Though Dennis is best known for his lightweight packing ability, he made one fatal error: He packed only a tiny ration of booze. Upon realization of his mistake, he panicked and consumed the groups reserves, causing great tension. He has not spoken to his sons since. | The Explorers
