FC: The Great Outdoors | Otten Family Vacation Kenai Peninsula Alaska 2011

CLAMMING | What a beautiful view! | We were invited to visit Homer, Alaska by Matt Shadle. Matt lives in Sandy, UT and also has a home in Homer, AK. We know him because he bought a male reindeer from us a few years ago. He let us stay in his Homer house and gave us a truck to drive while we were there. WOW. We went from July 27 to August 4, 2011 because the tides were good for clamming.

Pike's Street Fish Market | Seagulls at Ivars | Jellyfish | Our Delta Airlines flight from Salt Lake City to Anchorage was cancelled at 11:30 pm. The next morning, we left at 11 am and flew to Seattle, WA and then from Seattle to Anchorage that night at 8:30 pm. It was an unexpected little side trip!

We took the light rail to Pike's Market and then back to the airport. | Feeding seagulls at Ivar's FishBar | Waiting around at the airport | Everyone was very patient and pleasant even though we spent A LOT of time in the airports! | Seattle was fun. We especially liked eating at Ivars Fish Bar and feeding french fries to the sea gulls.

We made a quick stop at the Anchorage LDS temple before heading to Kasilof where we stayed at the Gallery Lodge.

The drive from Anchorage to Kasilof was stunningly beautiful!

We stayed our first night in the Gallery Lodge in Kasilof, AK. We fished in the Kasilof River and the next morning we went to High Adventure Air tours to go bear watching on a pontoon plane.

Fishing on the Bear Watching Tour was fun for Alyson, Jennie and Sharlene.

Seriously, we got close enough to touch the bears.

Bear Watching at Wolverine Creek. BEAUTIFUL!! | We also flew over a glacier.
