FC: The Temperate Deciduous Forest | Robert Stewart
GPS Standard | What a beautiful view! | S7L4: Students will examine the dependence of organisms on one another and their environments.. e.Describe the characteristics of Earths major terrestrial biomes (i.e. tropical rain forest, savannah, temperate, desert, taiga, tundra, and mountain) and aquatic communities (i.e. freshwater, estuaries, and marine).
LOCATION Primarily northern hemisphere. Bordered on the north by the boreal forest; in other areas by grasslands, semi-deserts, and subtropical forests –
Climate Temperature 75F (24C) - 86F (30C), Precipitation: average- 2 to 5 feet (0.5-1.5 m) each year (rain and snow). Four Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Winter- plants and trees become dormant. Spring- leaves grow back and photosynthesis begins Summer- sun creates energy for plants and heavy growth occurs. Fall- the chlorophyll begin to decompose which is reason for leave color changes.
The Organisms that can be found in this area are: Owls Salamander Black Bear Bobwhite Quail Nil Rabbit Oak Tree Birch Tree Flowering Dogwood Red Maple Tree
