2: Our Mission Trip Begins What began as an informational meeting in January 2011, ended with an incredible experience! Our team of 67 members all gathered in Johannesburg, South Africa to facilitate the Two Ocean Clusters Meeting. We led missionary families in worship, Bible studies and Vacation Bible School. The Two Oceans Cluster is comprised of missionaries serving in lower Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. We met families from Madagascar, Swaziland, Security 3 countries as well as all around South Africa. Some of the cities represented from the host country included Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal. Barbara spent her week loving on the MK children. They enjoyed all the Saddle Ridge Ranch themed crafts. We are not certain who enjoyed the time more, the kids or their craft director. Beth hung out with the MK Youth and co-led a team with Delena Bixler. The youth impressed their leaders with their cooperation and lack of whining so often found in kids their age. Beth got to bond wit Corey and Cameron playing Scrabble Slam during the morning free time. She also had the opportunity to sing with the awesome Worship Team. It was such a blessing to participate in experiencing the presence of God with brothers and sisters in Christ. Our goal was to love on this Cluster. The outcome,: we were loved and appreciated in return.
3: From the blog of the Allen Family (serving in Swaziland) Our Family's Mission Sharing the love of Jesus Christ to the Swazi people and furthering the kingdom of God by planting churches for His glory! | From the Blog of the Berry Family: (serving in Madagascar) Our Two Oceans Cluster meeting was held from the 30th of March to the 4th of April in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the theme was "To The Praise Of His Glory" Ephesians 1:11-14 We were blessed to have a volunteer team from First Baptist Church Orlando, Florida to come and conduct a VBS for our kids and conduct all of our worship services. They were led by their senior pastor David Uth, who also serves as an IMB trustee to Sub-Saharan Africa. My words cannot describe how wonderful it was to have this team with us. The love that they poured out on us was incredible, and the praise and worship times were truly a time of refreshing and blessing to us all. | Interesting Facts about Jo'burg - With a population of over 7 million in the greater Johannesburg area, Joburg is the most populous city in South Africa and the second or third most populous city in Sub-Saharan Africa - Johannesburg is often referred to as Joburg, Jozi or Egoli (the Sotho word for “place of gold”) - Joburg is one of the few major cities in the world not located along a coast or near a large river - 34 percent of residents speak Nguni languages at home, 26 percent speak Sotho languages, 19 percent speak English, and 8 percent speak Afrikaans - There are more than 2,000 parks in the city
