FC: The time period is before the civil war and slavery is a prominent issue. Kids like Huck and Tom have grown up seeing slaves as property because that is what they were taught. Most people in this time period are uneducated and cannot read or write. Kids don't have to go to school so most of them are also illiterate. | Huckleberry Finn By: Bobby Cardelle
Huck Finn is a smart boy that has been raised by the widow who tried to teach him good manners. He has a good conscience and is constantly struggling with right and wrong although he appears not to care. Gets into trouble a lot with Tom Sawyer but befriends Jim the runaway slave.
Jim is a runaway slave that is found by Huck and they both journey together down the Mississippi river. He is smart despite being illiterate and is sometimes the problem solver between him and Huck when they encounter problems.
"The Struggle between right and wrong." This theme is constantly popping up with Huck especially when he is torn between returning Jim like he was taught or staying with him as his friend.
In Taming of the Shrew society is depicted by Shakespeare in almost a humorous tone as he uses the society to his advantage. He uses a lot of irony between characters to show how people expect one another to act in society and how they actually do.
