I left for war on the day of my birthday... what a great present.
I wasn't scared though. | Not yet anyways.
but things were getting worse each day.
Things are increasingly chaotic, and I'm not sure I can handle this much longer
 I was falling apart.
I'm coming up on a month out of the states. the squad decides to get moving from camp.
on the way out i started thinking about if i was ever going to make it home again. and what made it worse was that i couldn't tell myself i would
\ | my thoughts began enveloping me in thought. I wasn't paying attention to the group.when i came to reality I was separated.
my worst fears were becoming a reality right before my eyes
what was i to do? if i cried out i would surely be found and ultimately ..... killed.
all i can do is pray.
pray and stay low. the odds are as far away from my favor as possible.
the only glimpse of hope i received was the occasional light that peered through the trees above.
but my enemy was closing in on me, i could see their fires at night, and i was a sitting duck.
the fires are moving closer each night, and i think i may be trapped here forever. i need a miracle or the end of me is very very near. i can almost hear the sound of our helicopters out in the dista---------
and then i saw my savior, coming towards me from the river. i popped my flare in time to catch their attention.
they made a hot pick up as the enemy unleashed fire on us. but i was in and we got out quick.
i wasn't away from war but it was just a bit more comforting being near people i knew were on my side. i had someone to rely on unlike out there on my own. i never left the group again...
