2: r | How We Met: Wednesday, February 25, 2009 | It was mid-February, 2009. Amy was at the salon when her stylist, Tenalee, said that she knew someone Amy should meet. Amy shook her head and told Tenalee that she didn’t want to do the blind date thing at all. Tenalee proceeded to tell Amy that Anita, her business partner in the salon, was at a bar in Mott playing black jack one night (Anita’s husband is from Mott). Anita sat by this Matt guy who was extremely nice and talkative. Their conversation included her telling him about the salon she works at in Bismarck. Matt was currently going to college in Bismarck and was just back in Mott for the weekend, so he told Anita that he may stop in sometime for a haircut. It turned out that Matt did stop in for a haircut, but it was on a day that Anita had off and only Tenalee was there. Matt stood in the doorway and explained the situation to Tenalee, saying that he'd still really like to get his hair cut. Tenalee told Matt | that she didn’t take new clients, but supposed she could fit him in. Their conversation included Matt’s upbringing on a farm in Mott with his 3 siblings, him going to school for power plant at BSC, how he had just bought a boat, and that he was going to be racing a legend car in Mandan that summer. Tenalee attempted to talk Amy into adding him on Facebook, but Amy never did.

3: Amy went on with her normal life for a few days until one day, she had a friend request on Facebook from 'Matt Quentin Miller'. She added him. Within a couple of days, she had a message from Matt giving her grief for being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Of course, she stood behind her team, and the conversation flowed from there. A couple days into their messages, Matt asked if she'd like to go to supper one night. He had a gift certificate for The Pier that was going to expire soon (or so he said). So, they planned it. He would pick Amy up at her place around 7:30 on Wednesday the 25th. Wednesday arrived, and a couple minutes before 7:30, the buzzer to Amy's apartment rang. She went up to the door and saw him standing there - white button-up shirt and cute jeans and shoes. They introduced themselves and walked out to Matt's pickup, chatting the entire way to The Pier. | Supper went really well! It happened to be Ash Wednesday, so they each had shrimp. Afterwards, they decided to go to Jorgy’s, another bar in Bismarck. They sat there for a couple hours and then ended the night at The Lodge. The night was full of talking each other's ears off about anything and everything. As Matt dropped Amy off at her apartment, she gave him a hug and that was that. The next day, Amy called her mom and pretty much anyone she was close to. She had to tell them about this great date she had gone on! A few people even got to hear her say that she found the guy she was going to marry. She just knew it somehow! Matt and Amy planned another date for Friday the 27th - Olive Garden this time - and that is where Matt asked Amy to officially be his girlfriend. The rest is history!

5: While visiting family at Matt's parents' house, Matt asked Amy to go in the Razor with him up to the top of the butte where he had planted two trees earlier in the week; he said he needed to fertilize them. Amy turned down the suggestion and asked if he'd rather play Skip-Bo with her instead. (It is now known that this is when the proposal was supposed to happen.) The following day, Amy suggested going for a spin in the Razor since she still hadn't been in it yet. Matt liked the idea because he still hadn't fertilized those trees. As they got up to the top of the butte and found the trees, Matt got out. Amy was just going to stay in the Razor, but Matt insisted she should get out and check out the view (it should have clicked then, but it didn't). | Amy got out and made a comment that there better not be any snakes up there! Matt laughed and assured her there weren't. As Amy was standing on the butte overlooking the farm and Matt's parents' house, she was in amazement as to how pretty it was and told Matt that. At that point, she looked down, and Matt was on one knee. He said that the real reason he planted those trees was to get her up there because that butte is his favorite place in the world, and that is where he wanted to ask her to marry him...and she said YES! | Engagement: Sunday, May 22, 2011
