FC: Josh and Jessie Make a Wedding Album

This is Josh and Jessie. They are about to embark on a wedding of truly Goofy proportions. We have known each other for almost six years and after many false starts, obstacles, challenges, and flat out bad luck, we decided that the big party could wait. In a year we can can celebrate with our faith-based ceremony, but we wanted to make it legal, on our terms, in the most romantic way we could. | This picture sums up nicely what we are all about. It took until almost three years in for our mutual Disney love to fully blossom, but when it did, we had a big ol' beanstalk o' crazy. There wasn't even much discussion of location when the subject of eloping was first raised. There were plenty of out of the way spots at Disney where we could make this happen. Our original choice was the beach at the Polynesian resort but we were concerned about finding a quiet place where we would not be accosted. As events unfolded, though, we decided on a new approach.

There is something really special about being able to share getting ready for your wedding with the one you will soon exchange vows with. The surprise approach is all well and good, but at our age, and with the casual wedding we had planned, this was perfect. | A life together begins...

We are so happy to finally be at the big day. Jess was pretty stressed out, while Josh was his usual calm(ish), ready-to-help self. He saved the day!

We went to our old standby, the Rodeway Inn, not the most glamourous location, but it's been our regular choice for overnights to Disney for years. We had some issues with the room, alas. | This was super stressful for poor Josh, whose main goal is always to help make life easier for Jess. She hopes he knows how much she loves him for that...even though we can't get a single picture with his eyes PROPERLY open!!! Maybe someday...

I made a nice little boutonnire for Josh out of sheet music, with little flowers made out of old maps. Tony and Joy wait for the bride to finish getting ready and dithering. The bride shows off her stripey socks. Jess figures out the camcorder while Tony looks on.

Josh hovers a trifle nervously. The bouquet was handmade by Jessie out of sheet music formed into roses, trimmed with ribbon. Below left: all a bride needs to do the deed. Some flowers, some rings, and a license. Below right: Joy and Jessie consult. | Getting Ready

Some shots from around the hotel room getting ready. (Counterclockwise, from upper left)Jessie shows off her tiny garter. Putting on makeup Putting on my tiny garter. My stripey socks and an astonishing amount of bosom can be seen. Josh walks into the February evening.

The idea of getting married on the monorail was a whimsical Plan B that would have died an early death if Josh hadn't bitten the bullet and run it past Jess. Finding a quiet place to do the deed under cover was going to be a challenge, so why not look for a NOT so quiet place? | M O N O R A A A I I L L L!!! | Wedding | .... .... | I

We opted for the monorail to Epcot as the ride is the longest, and the spiel stops at various points, allowing Joy to be heard. We hit the jackpot, though, when we managed to get a monorail that had a defective speaker. We did miss the TRONorail by just a moment, but it was worth it to have no audio issues.

The wait on the platform seemed to take forever. I know it was only a few minutes, but it seems a lifetime we waited for our mobile chapel to come to us.

Looking back, I feel like Josh was more anxious than I was. He did a lot of pacing, but then again, he had never done this before. | ! | Waiting....is the hardest part...

Poor, nervous Josh. Jess was a little more poised, having done this before. Jess has been complaining since the wedding that Josh never looked at her, but clearly he just wanted to get this right. And he did! Jess was the one to mildly bungle her vows. | Moment of Truth

Taking the Love Train to Epcot... oh yeaaaahhh... | We're a little nervous, and trying to get our vows right, but managing to smile. | Tony and Matt look on as we cling to the pole and try not to fall over. | Joy reads from my handwritten ceremony, pretty standard, except for the many monorail references.

"To have and the hold, for this, no, from the day...*giggle*...from...what?" | We got them said, pretty much, when all was said and done.

The car erupts into applause as Josh kisses the bride. Hmmm, not as downlow-y as we were hoping.

Jessica St. Hill (Jessica Mann) Born June 21*Married to Joshua Mann*Can't figure out how to use a &^%* phone | Jessica St. Hill Seriously, don't laugh at me. I wanted to update my status right away and I can't figure it out. Joy Harwood likes this. Victoria Castor You goofball! My phone isn't that complicated! Joy Harwood Dork! :) | failbook | Once I learn my way around a piece of technology, I am fine. Really I am. Unfortunately, that same gift doesn't carry over to having a clue when borrowing a phone to make a simple update.

The gang hangs out at the end of the monorail ramp, looking on as Josh and Jess have their first disagreement over the phone and updating Facebook. Because it's important to only argue over the really important things. :) | Aaaaaad, they are still trying to update... | f

Jess kicking up her heels as she heads to the necessary. Josh and Jess mirror the affectionate stance of Mickey and Minnie on the entrance gates Josh mock boots Jess in her ample bottom. Another shot of Josh and Jess mimicking the Mouse and his lady. Jess takes a moment to straighten her socks. She is so glad this moment was captured. /sarcasm The gang wanders about.

Josh had the neatest idea once we got out to the Boardwalk after the ceremony: he went over to the the very yummy bakery, while the rest of us had a bite of Boardwalk-y food to eat, and procured a delicious mini-cheesecake. We all had a little taste (with Josh and Jess keeping smearing to a minimum per Jessie's edict) and all was well until Tony had a pastry related mishap.

I should have known better than to leave the choice of "first dance" song up to Josh. He asked the DJ to play the schlockiest thing he could find and he picked Milli Vanilli's "Girl You Know It's True". Yeah. Luckily, our REAL first dance was when Michael Franti and Spearhead's "Say Hey (I Love You)" came on early on and I excitedly tugged Josh onto the dance floor. | My feet were very sore and I was exhausted, but we did have a wonderful time dancing, having a few drinks, and just relaxing together. As usual, even though Josh isn't what you would call the most graceful guy on two feet, he was enthusiastic! | I could have danced all night...ok, maybe not...

Josh and I dance some more. Joy and I cut many rugs into little pieces with our sexy and terribly coordinated moves. And out butts magically light up.

As usual, the drinks were strong and, for Disney, cheap. As the evening wound down, it seemed like the day had taken forever, but like weddings so often are, gone in a flash. | l'chaim

Josh and I canoodling out on the boardwalk that gives Disney's Boardwalk its name outside Atlantic Dance. | down by the boardwalk...

I am not sure where the day went...the plans weren't in the works for all that long, maybe about six weeks, but it was time that seemed to last forever. Now here we are, tired, happy, and most importantly, married. | Just Married
