We slip and slide as we fall in love and I just can't seem to get enough of you! Just Can't Get Enough by Depeche Mode | May 22, 2010 Riley Park Calgary, Alberta

How We Met | In the early part of winter 2007 Kat invited the Mannequin Depressives to come in for an interview on Turing Radio, her show on CJSW at the time. Although the meeting was brief it wasn’t long before her and Rod met up for coffee at Café Beano and struck it off almost immediately. Kat continued to go to shows and DJ nights that Rod was doing and by March of that year they declared themselves a couple after taking a romantic walk down to Prince’s Island Park.

Over the next three years they shared many adventures. Music was always a huge part of their relationship, as was discussing the meaning of everything, watching science fiction movies and enjoying nature. There was no doubt that they’d spend the rest of their lives together.

This is a formal invite to our small, informal wedding. We are overjoyed to request your support, company and blessings on the most important day of our lives. We are politely asking for no gifts at the ceremony/reception. Your presence and support is the greatest gift to us. The ceremony will start at about 3:00 PM on Saturday, May twenty-second, two-thousand-and-ten in the area west of the wading pool on Riley Park. Dinner will follow at 5:00 PM in the Redwater Grille downtown. It would mean the world to us to have you with us. Please RSVP to Kat or Rod before May eighth. Love, -Rod and Kat P.S. Bring an umbrella in case it rains. The ceremony will proceed rain or shine (barring snow, hail, sleet, tornadoes, king kong, earth quakes and the apocalypse)

1 Corinthians 13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Read by Theresa Cardiff

From the very first moment I met you, I knew my life would never be the same. I could feel something change inside me, and I knew I had found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I know it sounds cheezie, but it's also true. And now, three years later, I'm just as sure of that fact as I was when I first met you. When we first met, it felt like real magic. I knew we'd always have each other. Three years later I still feel that magic, that joy and that je n'ai sais quoi that is love's mystery. One of the first conversations we had, we set out to find the meaning of everything. And now, with this step in our lives together we are one step closer to finding that answer. If you take me as your wife I promise to always be here for you to listen to your words and to your heart, to always trust in you, to look into your eyes and share my soul with you. | I promise to always be here with you, to laugh at each moment, to make every day bright, to be honest and true to us and to always do what's right. I promise to always be here when you need someone to listen, someone to understand, someone to accept you, and someone to hold your hand. I promise to always be here to love you through good times, through bad times, through in between times too. And with that, I promise to you in the presence of God and our family and friends, to always be here for you. I promise I will love you for the rest of my life, without condition, loving you more each day than I did the day before. I promise to trust, cherish and respect you, to care for and protect you, to comfort and encourage you, and always support you. | Our Vows

I promise to laugh with you... to laugh at you... and not only allow, but encourage you to laugh at me too. I promise to cry with you, loving you faithfully regardless of whatever obstacles we may face, through the good times and the bad. I promise to hold your hand, and to always stand by your side. I give you my heart, and my love, from this day forward, for the rest of my life. And with that, I ask you, in the presence of God, and our family and friends, to be my wife.

I promise to hold your hand, and to always stand by your side

Azeda Booth was the first band Kat and Rod officially went out to see together. Not even a week after their first date Azeda Booth had a show to celebrate the release of their debut EP entitled Mysterious Bodies. Rod had never heard them before and was instantly taken. Kat and Rod followed the band’s progress and fell more in love with the beautiful music. That music became the soundtrack to their relationship and there could not have been a better band to play at the wedding. Many thanks go out to Jordan Hossack and Morgan Greenwood. “When we think of Azeda Booth we can’t help but to think back to us as a young couple and how we’ve grown closer over the years.”

Kat’s Bouquet Capacitors from an Atari, key pad traces and resistors Puruvian lilies Green roses “Green Tick” dianthus | Rod’s Corsage Function keys and flowers Flowers by Larissa Mclean and Russ Magee

There's nothing you and I won't do. I'll stop the world and melt with you. Melt With You by Modern English

We decided to get married while looking after Russ and Larissa's cats (in early April of 2010). | We didn't know how to break the news to Kat's very long time friend (and room-mate at the time), Julia Howard, so we took her out for dim sum and made her cry. In the end she was quite happy for us. | We almost had Rod's best friend, Jade Stevens, as the best "man" but she was out of the country and couldn't be there. | Kat made her own veil... a rare sewing related accomplishment. | The most difficult part of wedding planning was deciding whom to invite. While we would have liked to have much more family and friends present we opted to keep it to very close family. | In an effort to prevent a large wedding and over-the-top banquet we hardly told any of our friends, which proved very trying. The first person to find out was Rod's long-time friend from Souris, Stephen Groves. | The pink gold ring that Rod gave to Kat came from Rod's Nana, Jackie Crucq. | Our first choice of location was Prince's Island Park, where we started dating, but as it was not available we decided on a nearby park less than 2 KM away where we had many nice walks in the summer time. | A few months after the wedding we did have a BBQ for friends to come celebrate with us. | We decided on Edmonton for the honeymoon as they have the best record stores in the west. We bought many records and saw Moose Jaw's stoner-rock band Brain Sauce.
