The night started out like any other typical Friday night. I met “Otis,” my best bar buddy and headed out to Pensacola. We chose Intermission's Bar on Palafox St. It was fairly early in the evening with only a couple of fellas here and there, and one girl sitting a ways down the bar. I didn’t get a good look at her because she left her seat and walked away for a couple of minutes, but I had the best seat in the house when she returned. I will never forget watching Kathie walk back into the room. Her strut told me everything I needed to know - she owned the place. She looked like she knew what she was doing and who was watching. I actually turned my bar stool to watch her, hoping she would sit down somewhere near me. Just as that thought ran through my mind, she gave me a quick glance and a smile. It felt like a sudden cool breeze on a hot day. That look went right to my spine and made me tingle! It was electric! You only experience a feeling like that once in your entire life. Kathie sat down leaving one bar stool between us. I did my best to play it cool but I knew I had to approach her or I would regret it for the rest of my life. That was three years ago and I still feel the same way about Kathie! She was the lightning strike I’ve been waiting for my entire life!

The past three years have taught us that love and respect enable us to grow closer as a couple and we only get better with time. I love Scott for his amazing and kind heart. He has a unique ability to support, calm and nurture me and to keep me positive. His laughter is my most favorite sound in the world! Scott, you are truly my perfect other half and I am blessed to be your wife and life partner! I love Kathie for the way she looks at me with such love and adoration in her eyes. She is supportive and always knows what to say to keep me positive. I love how she keeps my attention and I think of her day and night. I am watching you with adoring eyes whether you realize it or not! You are mine and I couldn't be happier!

"Will you marry me and be my wife?" | I knew you would say "Yes" but I was still very nervous. I hadn't rehearsed what I was going to say because I wanted it to come straight from my heart. I will never forget the smile on your face when I asked you and I could tell you were very happy when you said "Yes!" | It was New Year's Eve, 2011... Scott & I went for a sunset walk around the island. The next thing I knew, Scott took off back to our bags to "get his shirt" while I sat on the rocks and eagerly awaited his return. He came back, sat beside me and smiled. His proposal touched my heart! And of course I said "YES!"

Each of us makes a point of putting the other before ourselves. Our #1 priority is each other's happiness. We share our thoughts and feelings freely and cannot resist grabbing a hug or a kiss every chance we get. On the morning of our wedding we received an ancient gift from the ocean, a cowrie shell. According to legend, the Goddess of the Sea bestows a cowrie shell gift to those who have pleased her. This gift signifies a blessing of prosperity and fertility from the Goddess and also symbolizes destiny and the connection between two people. It also represents Goddess protection which is very powerful and connected with the strength of the ocean.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres...." 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

I had been waiting a long time to marry the woman of my dreams and now that moment was upon me. Standing under the canopy, I reflected on how happy Kathleen has made me and how lucky I was to be marring such a splendid woman. I couldn't wait to see her appear and walk to join me. When I first saw Kathleen, I knew from her smile and beauty that this was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. She was bubbling with joy and looked so graceful and fabulous!

I was filled with excitement and joy knowing that the man I have waited my entire life for was waiting for me just along the shore and we were about to become husband and wife. When I first saw Scott, the sun was just starting to set and created a magical glow around him. He looked so handsome and confident. I knew I had made the right choice. My heart was pounding and I couldn't take my eyes off of his wonderful, smiling face. Our eyes stayed locked together from that point on.

I carry your heart | (I carry it in my heart)... | ~ E.E. Cummings

"Marriage enables two people to share their desires, longings, dreams and memories and to help each other through their uncertainties to provide the support and encouragement to risk more, thus gain more. In Marriage we learn to give each other reassurances by the complete sharing of ourselves physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Scott and Kathleen, will you accept one another as your spouse, to live together, to comfort each other, honor and keep each other in good health, sickness, and forsaking all others, be faithful to each other, and do you promise to provide your spouse with all necessities of their life so long as both of you shall live?"

I take you to be my lawful wedded husband/wife. I will look after, protect and comfort you during the course of our married lives, in sickness, in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do us part.

As these rings are of the earths finest material, so shall your love be of the richest of human values. As the rings are without edge or seam, having no beginning and no end, they symbolize the perfection of love, which knows no end. | These rings are a visible sign of an inward & invisible love which binds our lives together forever.

The kiss was great! We were both so happy at that moment and excited for that first kiss as husband and wife! It was the sweetest way to seal our vows and begin our journey together as a married couple.

Jackie and Sun Dan were such a wonderful joy to have as part of our wedding. Their company was key to making our wedding day the great joy that it was. I was moved by their emotions!

With a little help we were sailing nicely and it was a real pleasure taking my new bride out into the emerald waters for the first time. Hopefully there will be many more sailing adventures to come!
