BC: Merry Christmas!
FC: Bawcom Family 2010
~2010 in Review~ Bruce and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary on January 3rd. Where did the time go?!? Bruce is in his 20th year working for Intel. June, 2011 marks 21 years with the company and at that time he will be eligible for his 3rd sabbatical (8 weeks paid vacation in addition to his regular 4 weeks). He also stays busy with church-related activities, leading a Wednesday night Family Group, and singing on the church's Praise Team. They recorded their second CD this year entitled Safe. He is also into playing StarCraft 2 and has introduced us all to Dominion and other fun games. I am still working for Tuality Healthcare in Hillsboro (since 1999), but I have been in a new department (outpatient surgery) since October 2008. I LOVE my work there and generally work 2-3 days/week. Jeremy, Jasper, and Jade all are staying busy with school. Jeremy, 19, is in his second year at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Jasper, 17, is a senior at Hillsboro High School, and is looking forward to graduating in June. Jade, 15, is a sophomore at Century High School. Due to recent school boundary changes, she goes to a different high school than Jasper. (Jasper could have also attended Century, but already had his friends base at Hilhi, so he stayed there). We've been in the same house (4467 SW Plumeria Way in Aloha) since we moved to Oregon nearly 12 years ago. We're still at the same church (Westside Church of Christ), and drive mostly the same vehicles, including our old '91 Isuzu Trooper and '98 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The only 'new' one is our 2000 Toyota 4Runner that we got in 2009 after the boys' accident on Halloween 2008. In the pages that follow, you'll get to see a glimpse of our adventures... Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, Reserve, NM, Tuba City, AZ, and just life in general. It's been a good year. We look forward to 2011. FYI, all pictures identified as "I or me" refer to ... um... me! Thank you, friends and family, for being a part of our lives! ~Donna

Bruce and I took a weekend in July to visit Crater Lake. It was our first time to see it in our 11 years of living in Oregon! What an amazing place! The water is SOOO blue! The picture to the left shows Wizard Island. | Evening shot with moon reflecting on the lake.
Jeremy is a sophomore at the University of Oregon in Eugene. He loves going to the Ducks football games, plus he's also very active in the fraternity that he joined last year, Delta Tau Delta. He is double majoring in Art and Art History and minoring in Business. Beyond the Bachelor's in Art History and Business minor, his plan is to finish his undergraduate study with a fifth year of art in pursuit of a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. He decided to live off-campus this year. His roommate is Shane Amo, a buddy from high school. He's getting lots of use out of Bruce's old 10-speed bike and the public bus system. | Jeremy's trademark face paint | We were able to spot Jeremy on ESPN during a Ducks game, thanks to his face paint. | Shane Amo, Jeremy's roommate, unpacking. | Puddles the Duck poses with Brycen, Dan, Jeremy, Tyler, and Zach. | Jeremy and his Big Bro, Kevin DeAngelo, and "twin" Ed Wiggins (Delta Tau Delta fraternity)
Jeremy | Jeremy | Jeremy's first job...bank teller for Bank of the West. He worked full-time all summer, and is also working during the Christmas break. | Jeremy's birthday dinner at Hall Street Bar and Grill. | A few pieces of furniture from IKEA helped Jeremy' s new apartment feel settled. | New golf discs for Jeremy's 19th birthday.
J | A | S | P | E | R | Jasper in his Toby Mac | Jasper and Delores Dunn doing yoga at the Grand Canyon during their mission trip to Tuba City, AZ. | Jasper... being Jasper! | Ugly sweater day for one of Hilhi's football games... yay for Goodwill! | "Sandwich artist" is Jasper's title at Subway. | Jasper - #9 | Jasper is a senior at Hillsboro High School. He's a very happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He really enjoys spending time with friends. A few of his interests include drama, going on mission trips with his youth group, and playing lacrosse. He's looking forward to graduating in June. At this point, he is interested in missions or ministry of some sort, and would like to attend a Christian college. He has applied to Abilene Christian, Oklahoma Christian, and Harding. Now he's busy applying for scholarships so that we can send him to one of these schools.
Jasper as "Officer O'Hara" in Hilhi's presentation of Arsenic and Old Lace. | Jasper 'borrowed' Mel Winters' jacket and sunglasses after church for this Kodak moment in his Toby Mac 'bonafide Jesus freak' t-shirt. | Jasper plays goalie for Hilhi's lacrosse team. | Senior Pictures
Jade's 15th birthday Sept. 10, 2010 | Jade , a reporter, and Megan Granum, a nerd, went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.. and made quite a haul! | Katelyn Lavalley helped Jade celebrate her bday. | Baskin Robbins ice cream cake. | Chuck Season 2 & 3 TV series on DVD. | Jade - #21 for Century Jaguars lacrosse team | This is Jade's first year to play lacrosse; she generally plays as a defender. | Tess Hammond, Julia Khoury, and Jade at the Grand Canyon when they went to Arizona on their youth group's mission trip to Tuba City, AZ | Jade's summer job was child-care for a friend, Cynthia Xu (8 yrs old)... generally 2 days/week.
Jade performs at the Grotto (in Portland) with the HCYC choir (Hillsboro Community Youth Choir) on Dec. 12. | Jade excels in music, both singing and playing the piano. Above, pictured with her teacher, Cathy Larsen, and 3 fellow students (Tyler, Traci, and Chandelle). They performed "O Holy Night" as an 8-hand/2 piano ensemble. | Hummingbird photography by Jade. | Jade is a sophomore at Century High School. She loves to sing and play the piano. She's an active member of the youth group at Westside. She enjoys lacrosse and photography. She got her driver's permit the day after her 15th birthday, and has driven over 20 hours already, including driving to Eugene on I-5 .
Our four-legged friends... | Mandi | Mittens | Banzai | Banzai, Mittens, and Mandi bring a lot of joy to our home. The cats are 9 years old now. They're siblings and we've had them since they were just a few months old. Of the two, Banzai is the more social, but Mittens is very sweet, too, and she has a special attachment to Jade. We got Mandi (a cockapoo) in spring '09 when she was just a few months old. Banzai is definitely the dominant figure of the three. Mandi has great respect for his claws! | Bruce takes Mandi to Barkzone, a doggie daycare, on days when both he and I are working. It seems that Mandi tends to prefer hanging out with the dog handlers more than the dogs. | Liberty, a chiweenie, visits occasionally for a weekend slumber party when her family goes out of town.
Mandi and Jade | Jasper taking Mandi for her walk on Thanksgiving day... something that I generally do, but I was busy in the kitchen. I think he was a bit reluctant to be seen with Mandi in her ever-so-cute pink jacket! | Mandi and I (Banzai, too) ready to watch a movie.. or maybe football! She LOVES the knitted blanket on my lap. Jade made it a few years ago (before we had Mandi), and Mandi has claimed it as her own. | Banzai resting in Mandi's kennel. Mandi loves her kennel, but very obediently vacates it anytime Banzai approaches. He has claws and is about twice her size! | Mandi has a mild identity issue. Being raised with cats, she's picked up some of their ways. She can often be seen licking her paws, wiping her face in true cat style. | Banzai soaking up some attention from Jade.
Spring | Robins returned this year to our back porch | Mother's Day... a dozen roses from Jeremy, and "The Bomb Mom" t-shirt from Jasper and Jade. Bruce took me out shopping for potted/ hanging flowers. | flowers from our yard...
Mirror Lake | Bruce and Jeremy took a drive to Mirror Lake after work one evening in June and caught these shots of Mt. Hood as seen from Mirror Lake.
L to R: Larry Morgan, Nader Khoury, Roger Moats, and John Wolflick at the Colorado overlook. | A pennywhistle for Bruce's thoughts | Thunder River Springs | Deer Creek Falls, all 90' of it! | Bruce and 4 friends spent a week hiking one of Bruce's favorite places... the Grand Canyon! | All photos on these pages taken on the hike by Bruce, Nader, and Larry.

A throne befitting a prince for Nader | Roger and Bruce (aka "Larry") with a fine kettle of fish (Nader called Bruce "Larry" most of the trip even though they know each other well). | Nader, nature photographer, in his element | Ranger Roger says we should go that way... | Kindled by a book, John reposes in hammock | Head of Deer Creek Slot Canyon
Grand Canyon continued | Evening at the Bill Hall Trailhead | Deer Creek Slot Canyon | Larry leads the team hiking out of Surprise Canyon | Mission accomplished! | John climbs out!
Atwood Family Reunion (sort of...) July 2010 | Reserve High School was having their every-five-year reunion, so we took advantage of that event and also had a mini family reunion. All of the siblings and spouses (except Bruce) were able to be there. | Quick picture after church; L to R: Dan and Brenda, Jan and Shane, Rhonda and Lincoln, Robin and Ash, Justin, Donna, Mom and Dad
The Grotto/Festival of Lights Portland, OR | Jade sang with her youth choir here on Dec. 12.
On November 26, we all got to go see the University of Oregon Ducks play at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Jeremy attends UO and has been able to go to all of their home games this year, but this was a "first" for the rest of us. The Ducks beat Arizona 48-29. They're currently #2 in the country... hoping for a national championship on January 10 when they face Auburn!
