 St. Augustine, FL | April 17, 2010

The area in which St. Augustine is located was initially explored in 1513, more than 50 years before the city was founded, by famed Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, who at the time was the governor of Puerto Rico. De Leon claimed the area for the Spanish crown. The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest masonry fort in North America, and the only fort from the 17th century that is still standing. The fort was constructed from a type of limestone called coquina. Relatively rare, this type of limestone was only ever used in one other fortification, also located in Florida

 Castillo de San Marcos

The Potter's Wax Museum is located at 17 King Street, St. Augustine, Florida, United States. It houses over 160 wax sculptures covering a wide range of real and fictitious figures, including famous politicians, entertainers, horror characters, historical personalities, sports stars and other celebrities. George L. Potter established the collection in 1948 and the attraction is the first wax museum in the United States. The museum also contains a theater and a wax studio.

 St. Augustine

Santa Maria Restaurant Starting out as a dock for ships in the 18th century, when St. Augustine was a new city, the Santa Maria Restaurant has a come a long way! This restaurant on the water offers a unique view and guests are able to feed the fish! We fed catfish pretty much all of our french fries.

Project Swing SWING is an acronym for St. Augustine's Wish for Its Next Generation and is 23,000 sq ft of playground built in 1997. Haley wanted to go to the playground when we first got to St. Augustine but Mommy said on the way out, and you know Haley remembered to remind her that we still hadn't been to the playground as we were leaving.

 Under the Melbourne causeway.

Kay, Lor, & I had a girlday, we went to Rue 21, Mustards, and the beach :)

H O W W E M E T | We met on April 21, 2010. We went on a field trip to see a play at the King Center "1776". After the play we went back to school to have lunch. Kayleigh and I were behind him in line and I complimented him on his seashell necklace. Later Kay yelled at me for not getting his number so she gave him mine and he sent me a text the next day. Everyone was telling him he should ask me out. And on April 30th he walked me to my bus and said "Will you be mine?" | On May 8, 2010 Carlos & I went out to ice cream at Twisty Cone. We shared a cone of Blue Goo ice cream. We went with my mom but being in high school with no cars we still considered a date. And I still think of it as our first date. <---- That's a picture from when we were there. It's also our first picture together. | O U R F I R S T D A T E | First | Love

O U R F I R S T K I S S | Somewhere between when we started dating, and when we went on our first date Carlos & I had our first kiss. It was one day after school, he walked me to my bus like always and after our normal hug he gave me a quick peck on the lips. I was smiling so big and he kissed me again and said bye and went to his bus. I remember trying to get on the bus after that was near impossible. My legs were shaking so much I was running into all the seats! | I can't remember when it was said really. I know Carlos said it first. I think, if I remember correctly it's because I kept writing him notes that said "I heart you" in girl language, that's just like I like you, not I love you. But Carlos thought it meant I love you so he started saying it. | F I R S T I L O V E Y O U | Carlos Jasper Rios

We went tubing on Mike's boat, I failed at my first try, I flipped over and didn't think of letting go of the tube so I was dragged for a while upside down.....To give you an idea of how much time I was upside down, they had time to take a picture of it. After we went to an island and hung out in the water and we saw horseshoe crabs mating. June 20, 2010

 This is me flipping

Summer of 2010 Brandon & Haley stayed with Todd so I just had to babysit Brittany. I spent a lot of time at Aunt Jessie's too. In the beginning of August right before school started I went to Wet-n-Wild with Carlos and his family because his Lita was down visiting from Chicago. And of course there was the trip to Key West and the cruise to the Bahamas, but those pictures are for another page.

 baby sitting

Key West, FL | Key West is an island at the end of the chain of the Florida Keys. It is connected to the mainland by US Highway 1 which uses a series of bridges to link the islands of the chain. This is a popular vacation destination which gives visitors the feeling of the Caribbean without having to leave the country. | June 25 - 29th

Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum, was the residence of author Ernest Hemingway in Key West. It is located at 907 Whitehead Street. It was in this house that he did some of his best work, including the short story classics "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" and "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber." The house is also home of the first swimming pool in Key West, and the only pool within 100 miles in the late 30's. Pauline Hemingway spent $20,000 to have the deep well-fed pool built for her husband, while he was away in 1938. When Hemingway returned, he was unpleasantly surprised by the cost, and exclaimed: "Well, you might as well have my last cent." This penny is embedded in concrete today near the pool

 I want this house ^

July 4, 2010 Carlos and his parents threw a cookout for the fourth of July. But it was also a mini 17th birthday party for me. Complete with birthday cake ice cream, with a candle in it.

 CRUISE | Nassau, Bahamas | 2010

July 16, 2010 we (Mike, Aunt Jess, Gramma Susie, Uncle Steve and his girlfriend, Miranda, Maddy, and I) went on a 3-day cruise to the Bahamas on the Monarch of the Seas. First we stopped in Nassau, then we went to Royal Caribbeans private island and went snorkeling.

Nassau, Bahamas | July 17th we got off the ship at Nassau and went through a little shop, kind of like a flea market with a bunch of random things for sale. We got our hair braided, then went to Atlantis.

 snorkeling

 Brevard Co. Zoo

 SeaWorld

 Out on the Boat

Fun day :) We went tubing on the flying saucer thing, At one point Maddy and I went over such a big wave that Maddy flipped over and was hanging off the side! She was scared but we kept going. Little trooper. Later Mark & Mikey came with their jet ski. Mikey is a crazy driver and I felt like I was going to fall off the whole time I was on there with him. This is the day that the rope from the tube got sucked into the boats engine :/

 Halloween 2010
