18: Sad Days... | July 12, 2012 | Dad had a heart attack while waiting for a nine o'clock physical therapy appointment. He was rushed to St. Joseph's and tests revealed two major blockages. He was taken into surgery. One blockage was cleared but the surgeon did not attempt the other because the damage to the heart was very severe. We received the call in Cd'A at 11:45, regrouped and headed for Lewiston. The doctor had said, "It was a massive heart attack and does not look good." We prayed the whole way down that God would give him more time. Dad never regained consciousness after going in for surgery. He was taking his last breaths as we entered his hospital room at 4:05 pm. 24: In Memory of Gary Lee Moser ~~ August 1, 1936 - July 12, 2012 | Gary Moser passed suddenly from this life July 12, 2012 at St. Joseph's Medical Center from a heart attack. He was born August 1, 1936 to George Morris and Mary Alma Wieber Moser in Colton. He grew up in Colton and was joined by his sister, Glenna Lynn (Glee) in 1938 and brother Maurice Daniel (Morrie) in 1942. As a young boy and throughout high school, Gary worked for local farmers. Gary attended schools in Colton, graduating in 1954 from Colton High School as valedictorian. He went on to further his education at Washington Sate College (WSU) obtaining a bachelor of arts in Industrial Arts Education. Gary was a member of the US Air Force and due to the death of his father was honorably discharged as a 2nd lieutenant to come home and run the family business, the Colton Insurance Agency. Gary married Ula Rae Myers (Jane) in 1962 and they went on to raise a family of six children on the Palouse before moving to Lewiston in January of 1974. Gary had an entrepreneurial spirit and many businesses were initiated throughout the years: The Driftwood Restaurant in Colton, the Arbor Lounge, Pick-a-Pop, The Briarpatch, Thunder Jet Boats and Snake River Jet Boats in Lewiston; and he even did a stint as an Industrial Arts teacher at Clarkston High School. Gary also loved to build and invent things. His passion was designing and building boats. He built his first boat at the age of 16 and throughout the course of his life built more than 80 boats, from wood, to fiberglass to aluminum--from speed boats to pontoon and jet boats. One of Gary's most infamous and special creations was
25: the "Caddyshack" where he converted Mom's Cadillac into an, eventually, well-used motor home. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Colton Council, the Moose and Elks Lodges. Gary loved being on the water--boating, water skiing and fishing. He was a hunter, golfer and dedicated Cougar football fan--attending the Rose Bowl in 1998. Gary and Ula Rae recently celebrated 50 years together, with a party attended by their children and grandchildren and many family friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Morrie, who recently passed away on July 8, 2012. Gary is survived by his wife, Ula Rae; his sister, Glee Burley (Dick) of Las Vegas; daughters Kelly Dibble (Trent) of Bothel, Kerry Rae Moser of Colton, Marilee Finney (Dave) of Coeur d'Alene, Molly Powell of Lewiston; sons, Mitch Moser of Lewiston, George Moser (Jackie) of Kent; grandchildren Ryan Dibble, Chris (Nicole) Dibble, Ben Jacobs, Kevin, Kensi & Clay Finney, Jacob & Allie Powell, Caleb & Jonah Moser; and a great grandson (Owen) to be born in November. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stanislaus Church in Lewiston with a luncheon to follow. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Galls Cemetery in Colton.
