Oregon berries have such intense flavor and color because they hang on the vine longer due to the relatively cool climate, which allows for a slower ripening process.

The state's temperate climate---with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters---helps it to produce more than 170 varieties of fruits and vegetables. Among its most notable crops are berries, potatoes, onions and green beans.
