22: Who we Are An ernest robinson joint Decked out in green and gold, I took a stroll with a few of my old and trusted friends. We traveled north and we traveled south, we traveled east and we traveled west, with no destination in mind we were not on a quest. As the miles piled up and the years flew by, our walk got slower but our spirits stayed high. The joy we shared created a lot of stares and questions. You see everywhere we go, people want to know “who we are”’. So we tell them we are Ree-Ree and Squeaky and Blood and Jimsey and Larry Joe and Showboat and Micky and Kitty. We are Fluff and Southside and even Mr. Dream Guy. We are sisters and brothers of Aubrey and Mary of Joyce and Sherry and Loretta and Debra and Gail and Wanda and Andrew... just to name a few. We are Cleaborn Homes and Foote Homes and Fowler Homes too. We are LeMoyne Gardens and Mississippi and Walker where we survived and grew. We are Georgia Elementary and Alonzo Locke, we are LaRose on Crump with Metro across the street. We are Cummings Elementary and also Leath. We did middle school at Lincoln and Vance and Porter Jr. High where Miss Tuggle and Mr. Owens taught us to reach for the sky. We realized our dreams when we first walked the halls of gold and green. As silly sophomores and jive juniors and seniors who were super. We grew under the tutelage of Miss Simmons and Miss Cooper. We are the progeny of Miss Griffin, Rev. Brooks and Nat D who like that Army commercial said "Be All You Can Be".. We are the musicians of Mr. Martin and the ballers of Ditty Mo. We are infused with great gratitude that today we still show. We are the Esquires and Deb-Teens and the Lords and the Ladies. And don't ever forget... we are The International Players. We are Memphis State and Rhodes and Morris Brown and LeMoyne. We are Tennessee St., Shelby State, Mississippi Valley, and Alcorn. We are educated and accomplished and very often wise... every time we're knocked down, we just grow stronger and rise... just like Obama. We are mothers and fathers of Edward Jr. and Anthony and Melvin Jr. and Melinda and Shayla and Marcus and Tracy and Emory. And Roosevelt and Danielle and Jackie and Michelle. Ashley and Tamela and Marlon and Trenice. And Jason and Deadrick and Tiffany and Drew, Michael, Travelle and Whitney and Taylor too. We are doctors and policemen and firemen and nurses, truck drivers, entrepreneurs and business managers. We are barbers and hair stylists, flight attendants and radio broadcasters and more than a few of us are Sunday morning pastors. We are Army and Navy, Air Force and Marines. We earn our keep and we keep our dreams. And when they ask us where we come from... it’s not just Memphis. It’s Houston and Detroit, it's Nashville and Modesto. It’s Fairburn, GA and even San Diego. We’re from Texas and Louisiana, South Carolina and Indiana. We’re from Oklahoma and California and Oregon and Ohio. There’s no place on earth we are afraid to go. You see... we have no boundaries, we are not afraid to roam ...anywhere we land, we just make it our home. So through good time and bad, through happiness and strife, we are always THE MIGHTY WARRIORS. WE ARE WARRIORS FOR LIFE !

23: In Memoriam A candle to remember, may it shine ever so bright As we look to the heavens on this very night. Beyond the stars, our dear Classmates soar Embraced by their Savior on heaven's shores. As the angels protect them and sing their sweet names We honor their lives with the glow of this flame. As we light this candle for our fallen Warriors tonight As a symbol of our love and their eternal life. For those gone in presence and here in essence This light shines as a symbol of lives and love remembered. With Love, The BTW Class of 1972
