This year included being apart of a moms play-group, Bryan receiving his Associates Degree, purchasing our first home, Bobby turning 2, Bryan & I turned 28, we are pregnant with a girl, and we joined Ovation Church of Burleson, TX. 17: June 2010 | Our New Home: 10121 Lone Eagle Drive Fort Worth, TX 76108 Close Date: June 2nd 2010 Move In Date: June 12th 2010 | After we had made the decision to purchase a home in March, the hunt was on. We had our ideas for lay-out, price, location, and particular amenities (Bryan wanted a two-car garage and a fireplace), but like many things in life, this hunt proved to be harder than expected. After three exhausting months, and two failed offers, we were certain that purchasing a house was not in the cards for us. Then our realtor called us about a property that just came on the market and that fit a lot of our desires. We agreed to go see the property. One of us loved it (Bryan) and one of us hated it (Katie). The house needed work, and lots of it but, we were going to be receiving a first-time home-buyers credit of about $7,500. We knew that if we were going to ever do this, now would be the time. The house was listed for $80,000 so we submitted an offer for $77,000. We received a call from our realtor that the owner of the house knows us, and refuses to sell to us. we were dumbfounded, who the heck owned the house? It turned out that it was our current neighbor Aunt's house. We were there the year previously for trick or treating, but we forgot! After sitting down with us she agreed to sell the house to us and we settled on a final price of $75,000 and she buys year warranty and pays all closing costs. Amazing deal!
June 2010 | In Addition to watching Bobby for us during the day, Amanda would also come out at night to help clean and paint.
Tearing up the old tile was a blast, and much easier than expected although, the clean-up was awful. | June 2010 | We opted to tile the entire house (except for the bedrooms). Best investment we made! | Bryan ripping up the tile | What a mess... | Katie ripping up the tile
June 2010 | Biggest Project Old Kitchen: We kept a notebook close-by to write down a daily list of tasks that had to be completed each day.
Our New Kitchen Sink | Our New Kitchen | The finishing touches | June 2010 | Laying in tile | Out with the old | Work-Zone | Early morning painting | Lots of counter space with granite counter-tops. Success!
Front Bathroom: Money savings ideas like re-appoxying the bath-tub and replacing the vanity played a big part in keeping budget while renovating
June 2010 | Renovation Reality: After taking naps on concrete floors, and watching the sun go down and then come up without any sleep in between for three solid weeks, we were relieved to find no major problems. And while some things were more difficult than expected (lighting=4 days), at the end, we were proud to call this place our home.
Paul & Barb Reading come down to help with the finishing touches on our new home. Both Paul & Bryan worked tirelessly on tackling tough projects (like fixing a very crooked door frame) while Barb helped decorate to make the place our own. Afterward we enjoyed some nice bbq on the new grill that Bryan had got on fathers day!

It was a beautiful HOT 4th of July. We could not think of a better way to spend the day other than in a cool pool, with good friends, and delicious food. At night we put the kids to bed and drank margaritas while floating in the pool. The movie 'Independence Day' played from a projector onto the wall. Beautiful Night!

We learned about what a church family is and what it means for us to give back and be grateful to God.
