S: Senior Year
BC: She IS CLOTHED IN strength AND dignity, AND SHE laughs WITHOUT FEAR OF THE FUTURE PROVERBS 31:25
FC: Ashlyn Cheyenne | Senior Year 2011-2012 | For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your nameâ€'™s sake, Lead me and guide me. ~Psalm 31:3
From the beginning of Summer 2011 to the very last day of being in high school, every moment seemed to be one of those "Awe Moments." God has blessed me. My family and friends could not be any more special to me. As far as my last real summer, it was life changing. The summer of 2011 built me, taught me, and even broke me at times. My last high school experience is something words will never get close to describing. Thank you, God and everyone else who took part in it or in my whole life altogether.
L | Lake O' The Pines | After I was an usherette for the 2011 Senior graduation, I went to Tyler's house to eat craw fish. That night I stayed at Annette's and we woke up bright and early to get ready for our road trip to Lake O the Pines. This was the first weekend of summer, and I stared it out great, I loved spending this time with a lot of my family, and my cousin Landon took us on the boat both days. We never really got off the lake, and the tubes (unless it was to eat of course). On our way home Monday we stopped in Marshall and watched the movie “Thor.” It was really good and the first 3D movie I had seen. I had an amazing weekend.
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow it in his steps. -1 peter 2:21
Youth Force -I will follow- | Youth force is a mission trip designed for youth groups. We left the last week in June and headed to Perkins, O.K. I was able to ride the 7 hour trip with Sarah Hunter, making the trip fun and fast. We spent the night at churches and worked on peoples houses during the day with our God Squad. My God Squad was the O's and we became really close. At the end of the week it was hard to leave the amazing friends I had made. The owner of the house we fixed was an amazing woman battling 5 diseases, some of which were types of cancer. It was inspiring trip I wouldn't trade for anything. We returned the next week and learned God's work can bring everybody together.
 Alaskan Vacation
Zip lining- Something that should be on everyone's to-do list. It was my favorite part of the trip, but all together it was all unforgettable. The cruise boat, that left out of Seattle, had great service. I think no matter what, our time spent with the Massengale family is hard to not enjoy. On top of that though, there were beautiful sights and the perfect weather. A week in 60 degrees will make this Texas summer heat feel even worse than it already is. The Alaskan/British Colombia cruise was the ideal summer vacation.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ~ Psalm 46:1 | How lucky I am to have known someone who was so hard to say goodbye to.
Words cannot express what my friends mean to me. I love them so much and God allows us to strive in our relationships. LettingAnnette go off to college this week has been the hardest part of the summer. I don't want there to be an end to this time. To see this bubbly friendly girl I met at church freshman year go away from home is very tough. God gave me y'all.
I never thought this day would come, and now its already slipping by. I know the time has come for me to be a leader, even if that means in the little school of Gary, Texas. I thank God for every undeserving blessing he has put in my life. I hope I can show his words to others in FCA, I hope I can shine with my best attitude, and make the best of my final high school year. I know these hopes will come true, because I have that special thing called Faith. | Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. -Heb 11:1
 Senior Year
 Ashlyn Cheyenne Massengale
Be Strong In The Lord | & | Memo:
We were blessed with a great weekend when we went to Sky Ranch. We left Saturday morning to head to Van, Texas to a Christian retreat. The youth from Perkins (where we had youth force) came all the way down just to see us. We enjoyed the lake, pools, zip lining, and food. I cannot wait to go back next year. Hopefully it won't go by as fast next time.
A New Car! | I love my Jeep and plan on keeping it for a really long time. I'm definitely proud! | It's a Jeep Thing... You wouldn't understand
OCTOBER... | October started out with First Methodist taking us youth to the corn maze in Shreveport and later the Hell House in Tyler.
Luke and I won the festival queen and king! To win, we had to be the class that earned the most money by found raising. I'm happier about our class doing good than being crowned. We work hard and deserve it. This year we had bingo at the festival, it lasted FOREVER. I went to bed about 4! The next day we did the haunted hayride for Deadwood, then Sr. pictures that Sunday! It was a busy weekend!
The highlight of Thanksgiving break was that Sunday the FCA went to Lufkin for a Christian concert. We had a blast and I'm extra thankful for our FCA being able to do this. We were even able to take a picture with some of the band members! (Luke sat in gum.)
 WE CRY OUT TOUR
My Christmas break started out pretty rough, because Monday I had my 4 wisdom teeth and an extra tooth removed. It was my first surgery ever, and the recovery wasn't exactly graceful. My face was really swollen and bruised. The doctor had to try 3 different ways to remove my extra tooth. The worst being the roof of my mouth, because it was almost to my nasal cavity. Christmas was still as exciting as always though. I'm about to be 18, but I still stay up late waiting on Santa. =)
18th Birthday! | When my birthday got here I was almost all better. All I had left was a black eye and my mouth was still swollen. My big present for both my birthday and Christmas was rims and tires for my jeep. The day before my b-day I went and got Annette, and we went to Marshall to eat, go to the mall, and watch a movie. The day of my birthday we stayed at my house, and Kellan came and we just hung out around the fire. Also I went to town to apply for some jobs. Annette stayed with me that night again and it was just an easy going day. That Thursday we went to Longview to eat Buffalo Wild Wings. It feels weird being considered an adult.... and a little scary
! | We made the right choice for New Year's Eve. We had a blast at the Bogenschutz's house eating wings, pizza, singing karaoke, and popping a couple of fire works. I stayed at Annette's that night and we ended up staying up until about 4 in the morning, due to us talking =). For the first day of the year, we slept in late and then went to the gym. I dropped Annette off after church and had a pretty simple day.
 HOMECOMING! | 78 29
 Go Bobcats!
New Job | No matter how fancy I try to make it look.. I got my first job this year, at a grocery store. I'm still glad to be working though and getting the feeling of the "real" world. I couldn't be luckier with the people I work with. I have made some good friends since I've started working at Brookshire's.
Timer's Game & Donkey Ball | Old | Us seniors have to do some embarrassing things to earn money... enough said.
Playoffs!!! | I don't think I've been as excited about anything as I was when we won our first playoff game. A group of us girls rode with Kelsey and we had fun just riding there, but it was even better since we got to spend this intense game yelling and cheering for the winning team. Our guys have came so far and we're some proud bobcats =).
Prom Night | Prom night was amazing. My date was Jade and we went to Sho Guns in a LSU limo. We got the laughs we were aiming for too! I got Prom Queen, but my favorite part is afterwards we went and rode four-wheelers until the early morning. We had a blast and I will never forget it.
 Written in the stars...
 31st | March
 - | - | THE Concert | The Eric Church and Brantley Gilbert concert was one of the best weekends of my senior year. Annette and I were right by the stage at a sold out concert! Both Eric and B.G pointed at us because of our signs. Eric Church even took one and held it up and signed it. Everyone knew who we were when we were leaving. They put on an awesome show. | "That girl's my best friend..."
The Senior Scholarship Banquet went better than I could have ever expected. The biggest scholarship I got was the Dean's List at Panola. Which covers a year worth of tuition and fees. The most meaningful one for me was the Garrett Williams Scholarship given to me by my very good friend Tyler Hooper in memory of her brother. I also received one from the Panola County Bass Club, the Bobcat Bakers, the Charles Matthews, and the Bobcat Scholarship. I'm so thankful, because every bit helps.
We have been counting down the days until May 13, 2012 at 1:00 in the morning, because that's when we will be leaving for our SENIOR TRIP!!! We had the best sponsors we could to make our way to COSTA RICA. P.S. If there are any under class-men reading this right now while we're gone, don't worry I'm probably exploring Costa Rica and that is all y'all need to know! See y'all sometime after May 19th... Maybe.
The Week Plan | Sat.- We're headed back home to graduate! | Sun.- We arrive at San Jose and have full access to the Hot Springs | Wed.- We're packing up and moving from the tabocon and going to the Westin Resort | Tue.-Risking it all and going white water rafting | Mon.- I'm going Zip Lining again!! | Thur.- A whole day of resort/beach fun! | Fri.- Us and another group will spend the day on a Catamaran Cruise
Daddy, My whole life you have decided to motivate me. I want you to know that every decision you've made in my life, has been a good one and had a positive outcome. When you decided before I was even born to be a hard worker, you showed me you can achieve the most when you work for it. When you decided where our home would be when I was a baby, you gave me place to grow up safe, stable, and never want to leave. When you decided where I was going to school as a kid, you made the best choice possible. I respect you so much for always making your wise choices. You have been the best dad. Thank you so much for always being there and the path you have put me on. Now it's time for me to make my own decisions, but you don't have to worry because you have taught me to always strive for the best outcome. I love you for that and everything else you have done for me.
The older I get, the more people say I look like you. Which gives me more of a reason to be proud. You have always been involved and made sure I had everything I needed. I hope your mother instincts were passed onto me, because if I can be as good of a mom as you I will feel successful. You're such a strong and strong willed woman, and I admire that about you. I believe I get my determination from you, which is one of many things I can thank you for. We always have long personal talks and you really understand me. I know you always brag and tell people you're proud of me, but I hope you and Daddy know that I am just as proud of who y'all are also. I love you.
"Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder whats to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing, is we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. we just had to forgive ourselves... for growing up."
