FC: The Mighty Kite Adventure By: Megan Stockner

Hi! I'm Mighty the Kite! Once upon a time, I got lost while flying in the sky with another kite friend. When I was trying to find my way back home all alone, I went through a lot of different weather! Let me tell you about my adventure.

I was flying through some warm air when two masses of cold air rushed toward me, and they pushed me up with the warm air I was in. At first, I was confused but then decided to let it go. This happened to me more than one time! Each time, I saw different kinds of clouds. This is what they looked like: | Occluded Front

Nimbostratus Clouds | Altostratus Clouds | Cumulus Clouds

When I stayed in the warm air, it kept on moving. Eventually, the warm air replaced some more cold air! When this happened, I saw these clouds:

 Stratocumulus Clouds

Right after this, I kept on flying until all of a sudden, I stopped. I waited a little while, but then I started moving again. Next, a cold air mass started moving right beside the warm air I was in. It was cloudy and rainy for a long time.

 Stationary Front

It became very cold, and I moved with the cold air. Eventually, the cold air took over warm air. | There was a very bad thunderstorm, but I saw these clouds!

 Cumulus Clouds

After a while, I flew so far that I went over the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean.

When I was above the Atlantic Ocean, there was a hurricane! I tried to stay away from it as I watch warm and wet air rise into a spiral. It looked like the winds were almost 150 miles per hour fast, but the center of the hurricane was very calm!

I flew over an area of land then, and the hurricane became smaller and smaller until it eventually ended! The bad thing was that as soon as it ended, a tornado showed up!

Some warm and sticky air rushed together into a funnel shape. I wanted to cover my ears because it was so loud, and it was blowing down houses and buildings!

After an hour, the tornado went away. Later, I noticed that I was above the Pacific Ocean now.

There were two cyclones formed at this ocean, they looked just like a hurricane! The cyclone at the top half of the ocean was going this way: And the cyclone at the bottom half of the ocean was blowing this way:

As much as I was glad to be home, I was glad that I was able to experience so much about our weather! In the end, I had a great story to tell! | I flew as far as possible away from the storms. The next morning, I found my home! I landed on the ground in a hurry to get home, but it was wet. Not wet from rain, but it was wet from the morning dew. Even though I was wet, I didn't care.
