4: As a boy he initially was part of West Ham United's youth system, joining them as a midfielder in 1991. He moved to Chelsea at 14, playing for the club's youth and reserve teams. It was due to a shortage of central defenders that he was moved to center-back, the position he plays today.

7: Terry made his Chelsea debut on 28th October 1998 as a late substitute in a League Cup tie with Aston Villa. His first start came later that season in an FA Cup third round match, a 2–0 win over Oldham Athletic. 20: On 10 August 2006, Steve McClaren named John Terry as the England captain, succeeding David Beckham. McClaren said, "Choosing a captain is one of the most important decisions a coach has to make. I'm certain I've got the right man in John Terry. Terry scored a goal on his captaincy debut vs Greece
22: In the 2006-07 season John Terry had to go in goal vs Reading as both keepers Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini got injured. As a captain he took it upon him self to go in goal. He wore the number 40 shirt and kept his number 26 shorts on. In the match he didn't make a save but still kept a clean sheet as Chelsea held on to the lead to win 1-0
23: Terry got his first red card of his career vs Tottenham, picking up two yellow cards. As Chelsea lost their first game at White Hart Lane since 1987. He was charged by the FA questioning referee Graham Poll and on the 10th January 2007 he was charged a fine of 10,000 for the inappropriate conduct after he pleaded guilty to the FA.
24: Too cute to spook, but not to sweet to trick or treat | After the Reading tie for most of the season he was out through a back injury. Mourinho released a public statement stating Terry had had back surgery: "The operation to remove a sequestrated lumbar intervertebral disc was successful." Terry made a return match vs Charlton Athletics on the 3rd February 2007 but played a full return match against Middlesborough.
25: After John Terry recovered he started to get back to playing form until the Last Sixteen-Champions League match against Porto where he had a ankle in of injured. This was luckily not severe and he recovered in a couple of days just in time for the League Cup Final vs Arsenal
26: During the second half of the League Cup Finals John Terry threw himself at the ball for a diving header and Arsenal's Abou Diaby, trying to clear the ball made clear contact with John Terry's face. Terry was unconscious for several minutes.
27: He was carried off the field on a stretcher and immediately transferred to the University Hospital of Wales, where he was successfully treated. Terry left to celebrate with his team-mates where they successfully had a 2-1 victory. He can't remember anything of the match except the second half walking out onto the pitch but doesn't remember the 10 minutes he played before the incident.
28: After spending two weeks on the sideline allowing him to get back to his full fitness, he made another return match against Blackburn Rovers in March. After this match he had a quite eventful schedule where Chelsea played Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League, their third year out of four. Sadly Chelsea lost on penalties 4-1 but the leadership of Terry kept the team spirit going.
29: Their next fixture was the FA Cup final against Manchester United not only their closest Premier League title contenders but also their toughest opponents. The match was scheduled in May 2007, the match went on to extra time where their was a controversial decision whether Ryan Giggs shot crossed the line. However the referee thought not but the match played on and the 116th minuted Dider Drogba lobbed the ball over Manchester United keeper Edwin Van Der Sar. The strong defense and slick playing style of Chelsea helped them to keep the lead and win the FA Cup.
30: Following a dramatic end to the 2006-07 season John Terry signed signed a new five-year contract with a base salary of between 131,000 and 135,000 per week, making him the highest-paid player in the Premier League at the time.
31: Chelsea's 2007-08 wasn't as dramatic as the 2006-07 season but Arsenal's Emannuel Eboue stepped on John Terry's foot causing three broken bones in his foot. He had another quick recovery and was fine to play for Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspurs in the league Cup Final. Chelsea lost 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspurs even after going 1-0 up thanks to Didier Drogba.
32: On11th May 2008 John Terry collided with Petr Cech in the last Premier League game of the season vs Bolton Wanderers. John Terry suffered a partially dislocated elbow which was held in a sling and he was taken to hospital to recover. However this didn't stop him from playing Monaco against rivals Manchester United in the Champions League final.
33: The match ended 1-1, goals from Frank Lampard and Cristiano Ronaldo so it went onto penalties where John Terry had the decisive spot kick which would have won Chelsea the Champions League. Unfortunately his standing leg slipped as he hit the ball and the ball flew over the top right corner although if it were on target he would have scored as Edwin Van Der Sar went the wrong way. Chelsea lost the shoot-out 6-5 and Terry reacted by crying. Although on 28 August 2008, Terry was awarded the Defender of The Year award from UEFA at the UEFA Champions League Group Stage Draw in Monaco, along with Crisitano Ronaldo, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech who received the award on their positions
34: John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Petr Cech, are regarded as a part of the spine of the Chelsea team. Winning seven trophies as Chelsea captain (one more than Dennis Wise). Being English and coming through the Chelsea Youth System also made him popular with the fans. John Terry that year lead Chelsea to victory as Chelsea that year beat Everton 2-1 to win the FA Cup. John Terry has stayed loyal to the club rejecting bids from Manchester City who made 3 bids for him in July 2009. Also that year, Terry was again awarded with UEFA Defender of the Year, his 3rd time winning the award.
35: On January 29th 2010 John Terry's captaincy of England and Chelsea were under threat as he was named as having an affair with the ex-girlfriend of team-mate Wayne Bridge. Chelsea skipper was also said to have also cheated behind Toni Terry's back. Wayne Bridge had just signed for Manchester City for 10 Million. | On 5 February 2010, following allegations regarding Terry's private life, England manager Fabio Capello announced that Terry was removed as the captain of the England team. He was replaced by Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
36: On the 28th February 2010 it was Chelsea vs Manchester City. During the handshake Wayne Bridge decided to snub John Terry. Wayne Bridge was still hurt by the news and therefore as a reaction decided not to shake his hand.
37: Even though John Terry had a season of up's and down's Chelsea opted on and won the 2009-2010 Premier League title. The last game of the season was the biggest win as Chelsea beat Wigan Athletics 8-0. Terry also lead Chelsea to the FA Cup beating Pourtsmouth 1-0 a rememerable for may reasons the Chelsea captain.
38: On 19 March 2011, due to the England's bad form and Rio Ferndinands long term injury, John Terry was reinstated as England captain. This season was quite significant to John Terry as he lead Chelsea out for the 400th time vs Aston Villa the highest number in the club and still counting. On Saturday 23rd April 2011 Wayne Bridge again refused to shake hands withJohn Terry, who at the time he still believed that had an affair with Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel.
39: 23 October 2011 John Terry was suspected of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand in a surprising 1-0 defeat to QPR. Video footage circulated over the Internet leading to people accusing Terry that he called Anton Ferdinand a "f***ing black c**t". Terry replied that he was only repeating what Ferdinand said. On 25 November 2011, Terry was interviewed under caution by the police. On 21 December 2011, he was charged with for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand by the Crown Prosecution Service. On 3 February 2012, the FA stripped Terry of his England captaincy again (the second time), stating that Terry would not captain the national team until the the situation were to be resolved.
40: The 2011-12 season started of atrocious not only with Terry's private life but with new manager Andre Villas Boas as well he was sacked within 5 months Roberto Di Matteo took over and it all started to go up hill again. Although Chelsea finished 6th in the Premier League table in the 2011-2012 season they focused on the FA Cup and Champions League. Chelsea beat Barcelona the champions league champions 3-2 on aggregate but John Terry gained a red card for kneeing Alexis Sanchez. Not allowing him to play in the Champions League Finals against Bayern Munich. Not allowing him to redeem himself for the 2008 champions league penalty slip.
41: On May 19th 2012 even though Terry was suspended for the Champions League final along with teammates Ramires, Branislav Ivanovic and Raul Meireles they all trembled in fear as Thomas Muller scored on the 83 minute. Until Drogba vicously headered the ball in on the 88th minute. He nearly turned from hero to zero when he fould former Chelsea player Arjen Robben in his own penalty area. It was just not meant to be for Munich as his penalty was easily saved by Petr Cech. The match went onto penalties where Chelsea had a terrible history especially for John Terry but it was just meant to be as Didier Drogba scored the decisive goal and it was to be his last as he left Chelsea in that transfer window to Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua. Although John Terry didn't play he took part in celebrations at the final whistle
43: That week Chelsea organized a tour bus showing of the Champions League trophy and Fa Cup which they beat Liverpool 2-1 to win
44: On 13th July 2012 John Terry enter the caught not guilty but admitted that he had directed the words "f***ing black c**t" and "f***ing knobhead" at Ferdinand, which was affirmed by two expert lip readers from video evidence. Terry had said those words in anger, "it is impossible to be sure exactly what were the words spoken by [Terry] at the relevant time" and that there was a lack of evidence tTerry was guilty as it could have either been stated as an insult instead or a reaction to what Anton Ferdinand previously said to him and was therefore seen as a challenge. The court believed there wasn't enough evidence to plead him guilty therefore he was found not guilty. | On the 27th July although the court didn't charge Terry the FA Association did for "abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour" which "included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Ferdinand". The FA didn't charge Terry until after the court case was cleared but Terry still denied the allegations of the FA.
45: September 24th 2012 John Terry retired from the England National team stating his "position had become untenable due to the disciplinary charge" On September 27th 2012, the hearing concluded with Terry being found guilty. Terry was fined 220,000 and punished with a four match ban, four less than Luis Suarez (Uruguay Striker charged for racial abuse towards Patrice Evra). The FA later published a 63-page report on the disciplinary actions made by an Independent Regulatory Commission. It labelled Terry's reaction was "improbable, implausible and contrived". The Commission concluded that it was "Mr. Terry's defence that the his use of words were directed at Ferdinand by way of forceful rejection and/or inquiry. Instead, [the Commission was] quite satisfied, and [found] on the balance of probabilities, that the offending words were said by way of insult."
46: On 15 September 2012 Terry was snubbed by Anton Ferdinand in the pre-match handshake against QPR. John Terry also accept the four match ban for racially abusing QPR the skipper Anton Ferdinand.
