Dear Expectant Parent(s), We are Mike and Abbie and we want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We would like to start by expressing our respect, admiration and thanks for your courage right now. We can't imagine the feelings you have or will experience in your decision to plan an adoption for your child. You have been in our prayers for a long time and our prayers will always be with you. We pray you find comfort and peace in this delicate time. We are excited that you would consider us as loving parents and we hope that this book will give you a glimpse of who we are and who we hope to be as parents. We have been together since 2006 and our marriage is faith based and very strong. Because we have known each other for so long, our strengths include good communication and the tendency to know what the other is thinking. We are a great team and work together to make decisions. One of the ways that our faith has grown and our marriage has been strengthened is through infertility. Abbie knew from an early age that she would not be able to have children. One of the reasons Abbie fell in love with Mike was how he supported and embraced the opportunity to adopt. From that day on, we knew we were called to adoption. We are blessed to have very supportive friends and family who are very excited to welcome in a child to our family. We are friends with two wonderful families who have each adopted two children. Abbie's uncle is adopted. At our church, there are several children who are adopted as well. We will tell your child about their adoption and make sure your child knows the love of their parents. Our family goal is to raise a child to love God and bring them up in a Christian home as we were. We have been praying for years to expand our family through adoption. Adopting a child will be the biggest blessing in our lives and the most important life event we will ever experience. We cannot wait to share our love with a child and feel it is a privilege to bring a child into our family just as God brings us into His. Sincerely, Mike & Abbie

We met in August of 2006 at the Young Adult group at our church. We quickly learned we had a lot in common. We both love LSU football (my brother was a Senior the year we met) and our families had both had black labs. We hung out that first New Year's but didn't start dating until the Fall. Abbie invited Mike on a camping trip with a group of college friends. Our first official date was at Two Rows in Houston where we watched LSU lose! We still had a blast and enjoyed spending time together every weekend after that. Mike proposed on April 26, 2009 when we were chaperoning a Senior Send-Off Church retreat at Camp Cho-Yeh in Livingston, TX. | 2009 | 2007 | 2006 | we met | started dating | engaged | Our Story
2013 | 2012 | 2010 | married | 1st house | adopted Lucy | We both love helping with retreats and Camp Cho-Yeh is special to Abbie because she was a counselor and a lifeguard there in 2003 when she was in college. The wedding was in January 2010 and was a wonderful day. It was beautiful to see all the people that have known and supported us as we grew up celebrating our special day with us. It was a perfect day! We stayed at a beautiful hotel on our wedding night and flew to Costa Rica the next morning. After our honeymoon, we moved into an apartment and we bought our first house in 2012. We live in the same community where Mike grew up and we love living here!
We adopted Lucy in May of 2013 and her birthday is in August. We took her to see Santa on "Pet Night" at the mall! She is a very smart, sweet natured black lab/border collie mix. She loves the local nature trails and dog park. She is wonderful with children and loves giving kisses. | Pets
Lucy | Baby | Abbie has had Baby since college. She was born on Memorial Day (5/26/02). She is super lazy and sleeps all day. She loves being brushed and she likes to sleep in the bathtub! She is usually very quiet unless it is breakfast or dinner time.

Our Hobbies | Mike Enjoys reading, walking Lucy at East End Park, spending time with family, swimming, watching movies, and hanging out with friends watching football. He loves teaching Life Teen (High School Sunday School). Abbie Enjoys crafting, embroidery, and swimming. For exercise she enjoys jogging, Body Step and Body Combat at Gold's Gym. She loves watching movies, musical theater, and going to the ballet! She has run in two 5Ks and hopes to run a 10K soon!
LSU Football Game! Mike fishing! Disney World! | Out of all the hobbies & interests we have, our favorite is just being together. We love to go to college football games. Tailgating and going to the game is fun. Mostly we enjoy the time in the car driving there and talking about what's going on in our lives and singing with the radio.
Having Fun | Whether it's watching a movie, making a meal, or just sitting on the porch, we are going to have fun and enjoy each other. We are so excited for the chance to bring a child into our family to share the love that we have for each other.
Our Marriage | Our marriage is faith based and very strong. Because we have known each other for so long, our strengths include good communication and the tendency to know what the other is thinking. We have very distinct roles in our marriage: Abbie does the laundry, Mike cuts the grass, Abbie keeps the social calendar, and Mike manages the finances. One of the ways we could grow our marriage is to know more about the other's role in the family. We are a great team and work together to make decisions. Our family goal is to raise a child who loves God and bring them up in a Christian home as we were.
One of the ways that our faith has grown and our marriage has been strengthened is through infertility. Abbie was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome at age 15. We have been very blessed to have our supportive friends and family through this time. Through prayer and guidance from other adoptive parents, we made the decision to begin the adoption process. We were fortunate to be like-minded when we made the decision. We feel it is a privilege to bring a child into our family just as God brings us into His.
Parenting is something we are ready to experience. Abbie works with children and has learned a lot about different parenting styles through her job. We believe that there must be a balance between discipline and fun. We believe that we would have a loving home and would teach our child to be respectful and compassionate to others. | Parenting | Abbie teaching her Pre-K class.
Our discipline styles would be age appropriate and we are committed to finding a way to make sure our child knows that we mean what we say and they can trust us. | We both had great models for parenting with our parents and grandparents and believe that our different personalities will make for a great parenting team. | Discipline
sunny days | We are friends with two wonderful families who have each adopted two children. We will tell our child about their adoption when it is age appropriate. At our church, there are several children who are adopted. Abbie's uncle is adopted and our families are familiar with talking about it. We will make sure our child knows the love of their parents and their Heavenly Father. | Adoption
spring is here! | Baby Girl | We would describe you to your child in a respectful and loving light because of the choice you are making. We will send updates and pictures of your child as long as you desire and will always respect your privacy.
We are so excited about the possibility of sharing our life with your precious child and hope this book has given you a glimpse of what that life would be like. We want you to know that our home is warm and happy and will always be a place of love and encouragement.
Together, will we always celebrate life . . . and we will always celebrate you. We wish you courage in the days ahead and will pray for the decisions you will make for your child. Thank you for learning more about us. Sincerely, Mike & Abbie
