FC: Kent, Charla & Carly
Hi! We are Kent and Charla. Thank you for taking the time to read about our family. We are blessed to be parents through the loving decision of Carly's birthmother who chose us to be Carly's parents. We can hardly wait to experience parenthood again through adoption.
We admire your courage and commend you for your willingness to consider adoption. We are committed to giving your baby a loving, secure and happy home, and we appreciate you for considering us as you make this important decision. As you do, know that our warmest thoughts and prayers are with you. Please know that if we are fortunate enough to be chosen to be your child's adoptive parents, we would be forever grateful to you for your unselfish love and sacrifice. We would be honored by your willingness to place your trust in us. | Celebrating our 14th Anniversary, June 2011 | A day of sailing! | Flying out!

Why We Want to Adopt ... We have always dreamed of how wonderful it would be to raise children together. Like many young couples, we assumed we could have children whenever we wanted. We decided to wait until Kent finished law school before having a child. After more than a year of negative pregnancy tests, countless medical procedures, and even surgery, we were told that we could not have biological children. When we received this information, we were completely devastated. However, our desire to be parents has triumphed over our disappointment. We know that God is good and He has a great plan for our lives. We put our trust in Him. | Our Wedding June 28, 1997 | Game Day!
Charla loves arranging flowers for our house!
Charla, My Wife . . . Charla is a "giver." Not surprisingly, she has a closet full of gift bags, wrapping paper, cards, stationary, ribbons and bows that she uses to make "surprises" for people. Charla is also very organized, accomplishing more in thirty minutes than most of us can in three hours. Most of all, Charla enjoys children. Charla taught elementary school for eleven years before Carly was born. Charla is now fulfilling her life-long dream of being a "stay-at-home mom." Charla's love of teaching continues as she plans activities for Carly where she's learning and having fun at the same time. Charla loves being a mommy. You can see the joy in her face as she plays with Carly and plans play dates and outings such water parks, story times and sing-alongs. Charla loves babies and is so excited about having another baby to love. | A gift Charla "created" for someone.
Kent, My Husband Kent is one of a kind. He has an amazingly warm heart, is full of surprises and is very loving and affectionate. His smile and intellect immediately drew me to him. Kent is the type of person who never meets a stranger and can carry on a conversation with anyone. Kent is the managing partner for the litigation department at his law office. He works hard, but his job is very flexible and he is always home for dinner and never works on the weekends. Kent coined the phrase, "life is less about where you go in the mornings and more about who you come home to in the evenings." Kent treasures the simple things in life. He especially loves to be at home. Curling up in a warm blanket by the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa is completely relaxing for him. He is sensitive and caring, loves deeply and is not afraid to show his emotions. Kent is the most honest, dependable person I know. His brother often refers to him as "faithful as a hound dog." These qualities make Kent the perfect father. He has such a tender heart and desires more than anything to share his love with another child.
Kent's favorite Disney ride is Dumbo. | National Championship Football Game, 2011.
Our Life Together . . . We met in college often double-dating--Charla with her boyfriend and Kent with his girlfriend. From the beginning, we always enjoyed each other's company. Our great friendship continued when we began dating each other, and two years later we were married. We have been happily married for nearly fifteen years. We are a team and love spending time together. Each fall, we look forward to weekend trips to cheer on our favorite college football teams. We love to travel, especially to sunny places. Our first really big trip was a cruise to the Caribbean. Each summer we take a week-long family vacation to the beach. What wonderful fun memories we have of these special times.
A Dream Come True Just ten weeks after we first completed our adoption paperwork, we received a phone call from a birthmother informing us that she had chosen us to parent her daughter who was due in just a few days. We flew out of state to meet her and were very fortunate to share meals, shop at the mall and go out for ice cream together. | This sweet birthmother went into labor while we were in town and within hours Carly Angelina was born. We will be forever grateful for Carly's birth mother and her selfless decision to place her precious daughter with us. | Charla's first Mother's Day
Carly is a happy, energetic and affectionate five year old little girl. Charla calls her our "Little Snuggle Bunny." Carly is in kindergarten this year and loves her school, teachers and friends. Her favorite subject is Spanish. Carly also enjoys ballet, horseback riding, and music. | When Carly says her prayers she always asks God to please give her a baby brother or a baby sister to love. She is already talking about sharing her toys with the new baby and giving him or her lots of hugs and kisses. Carly can hardly wait to be the little helper, pitching in with baths, feedings, and even "diaper duty." Carly is waiting for her dream to come true of having her own brother or sister to love. She will be such a great big sister.
Our Families We are fortunate to have a large loving and supportive family who will be a big part of your child's life. Our extended family is filled with so many loving people who are excited to welcome a new baby into our family. We love spending time with our three nephews. We will soon have a fourth nephew. Kent's sister is adopting a baby boy from Korea. Charla will never forget the tears of joy that streamed down Kent's face when his first baby nephew was born. Kent also cried tears of joy when he held Carly for the first time. | Kent's sister and brother-in-law | Kent and his Dad | Kent's brother, sister-in-law, two nephews & Carly | Kent's sister and brother-in-law will soon bring their adopted baby boy home from Korea.
Kent comes from a family with two loving parents who have been married 44 years. His father is a retired pastor and his mom is a teacher. They have been grandparents for almost 14 years and are experts at road trips to see their grandchildren. They interact with their grandchildren far more than most grandparents. It's not uncommon to see them playing dress up or hide and seek. Being grandparents is what they live for and they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their fifth grandchild. | Carly and her cousins, Mac and John, are best buddies. | Kent's brother loves playing with Carly. | Kent's parents love to visit their grandchildren. | Kent's sister-in-law and Carly
Charla's parents have been married 46 years. Her father is the director of executive education at a college and her mother is a homemaker. They live just a couple of hours away and are affectionately referred to as our "traveling babysitters." This would be their third grandchild and they are so excited. Charla's father can hardly wait to board a bus for a school field trip with his grandchild. Charla's mother is the perfect party planner- celebrating birthdays, baking cookies for Santa, and decorating Easter eggs are just her "cup of tea." | Charla's parents at Carly's dance recital | Charla's brother and sister-in-law live close by so we spend lots of time together | Charla's brother with Carly at a family member's mountain cabin
Carly holds her new baby cousin. She adores him and dreams of being a big sister. | Kent and Charla's brother having fun before a football game | Charla's brother and sister-in-law | Charla's parents at Carly's 5th birthday party
Our Home and Neighborhood We live in a quiet subdivision. There are sidewalks throughout, which are perfect for strolling a baby. There is a park behind our home where we enjoy playing on nice days. Our neighborhood also has a pool that we visit often. | Charla has the perfect bedroom and bathroom ready for a nursery, with big sister just next door. Charla's favorite part of the nursery is the green and white checked glider rocker. She says that it is ready for mommy and new baby to rock for hours. | We love eating meals on our courtyard.
Arts and crafts at a local fall festival | Leaving a baseball game with a ball is priceless!
We can hardly wait to experience parenthood again throgh adoption! With us, your child will experience a Christian environment that is loving, safe, caring, and fun, with a supportive extended family who wants a "new addition" every bit as much as we do. We are thankful that you have taken a moment to learn about our family and we look forward to having an opportunity to meet you. Until then, we will be thinking of you and praying for you as you make important decisions about your child. With Love and Respect, Kent, Charla and Carly
