BC: "Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born." - Anais Nin

This book is dedicated to my friend Amanda

Best Friends Running around since we were eight Promising "friends forever" Whispering secrets saying not to tell Replying "I would never!" Swimming, jumping, laughing All the friend things to do But the reason why you're my best friend Is together we're the perfect two | Sleepovers late at night Laying under the stars Having conversations about life And the memories we call "ours" I just wish to tell you friend Thank you for what you've done With out a best friend in life I would be a lonely one -Emily Evans

As childhood friends, we grew up together, Swearing to be friends forever and ever. Sometimes we would argue and fight, Other times we would laugh and stay up all night. We went from playing with games and toys, To talking and dreaming about different boys. | My thoughts and feelings, to you I would confide, Never having anything to hide. Friends we do remain, Things changing, and things staying the same. To each other we still listen and share, About each other, we will always care. -Mindy Carpenter

"The sun was so hot our feet burned, we were little screamy children, some bouncy and fat, some of us bony with hangy swimsuits, all of us splashing and gulping, getting whistles blown at us and trying to move our arms and legs right, it was sink or swim, a wild adventure in 3 feet of shiny water" -LaVaughn (Page 72)

We all need someone To talk to in our life, A friend to whom we run In times of stress or strife A friend who's always there Throughout the years, A friend we know will care And take away our fears. | A friend who's always near, Waiting for our call, To wipe away our tears, And lift us when we fall. A loving friend indeed, On whom we can depend To fulfill our every need - Thank you, precious friend -Sammy Lane Sharp

SUMMER White puffy clouds floating in the sky When the sky's so bright and blue Sitting here next to the beach Wondering what to do Sinking my toes between the sand Watching the waves crash and foam Smiling as a seagull passes And as a lonely horseshoe crab roams Standing up and thinking about How many seashells to find The “having homework” feeling slows As my tension starts to unwind I run to the water in my bare feet Wanting to feel the waves Knowing summer doesn't last forever This moment I try to save | A wave comes up, crashing and roaring And I smile for I know what to do I put my hands together, lean forward, get ready And than I dive straight through My head pops up as I laugh happily For now the water is shoulder deep I relax my body and float on my back As I almost fall asleep I open my eyes and once again See those clouds puffy, big, and white And at the moment I feel as though My summer will be alright -Emily Evans

When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. -W. B. Yeats

Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose" -Tennessee Williams

I'm lucky, born under a good star, maybe" LaVaughn (page 12)

When we were little we played kick-the-can a kazillion times. We went to each other's messy little birthdays and spilled icecream and I remember like a movie how i stole his party hat one time" -LaVaughn (Page 20)

"A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway." ~ Jerome Cummings
