 And so is his wisdom.
Here's some of your wisdom, stories, songs and antics that we carry with us and will treasure forever.
Writing down the words doesn't really do you justice, since the best part about them is the way you tell them. But we thought it would be neat to have them in a book. Most of the time you end your stories with "and that's a true story". Not sure if you are trying to convince us or yourself. We were usually left pondering whether it was true or not.
Camping trips and vacations wouldn't have been the same without hearing, at least once, that familiar shout-out from Dad.... "Everybody out in the street!" | If you call the house and Dad answers, and you ask where Mom is, Dad will say... "She had an emergency, had to go to Walmart." Or "She had to go to Walmart. She hadn't been there in a couple days so they sent her a Get Well Card."
"I was in high school before I figured out how to tell the difference in boys and girls... Girls have bigger feet." | When you ask Dad to borrow his pocket knife, more than likely he will turn around and say "yeah, pull it out of my back."
"There were only two people there when I was born.... me and my Grandpa. My Mom was out shopping". | When we asked what our belly buttons were, Dad said that's where we were picked off of a tree. | According to Dad
If something wasn't straight then Dad would say it is "leaning towards Aunt Rachel's".....still don't know to this day who she is.
Dad said his Mom & Dad moved several times. Trouble was they always did it while he was at school. He'd come home and they'd be gone. The neighbors would have to take him to where they were.
"All I ever got for Christmas was a piece of fruit and a doot de doot." | "I was in the 3rd grade 3 years... they didn't want me to pass up my Dad. The only 3rd grader that could drive." | ABC's 123's
Affectionately speaking of his baby sister, Barbara. "When she was little, she was so ugly that Mom took her everywhere she went so she wouldn't have to kiss her goodbye." | And yet another favorite saying... "That's enough to gag a maggot."
A kiss and a peck and a hug around the neck. A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap. A barrel and heap and I'm talking in my sleep about YOU OO! | Songs to make you
There was a man who had an ole gray mule, his name was Simon Slick. He'd roll his eyes and prick his ears, and how that mule would kick. He'd say eehaw , eehaw, eehaw. Eehaw, eehaw, eehaw, rode 'em down the way.
I know a gal called Cincinnati Lou, there aint nuttin' that she can't do. She can drink more beer than a 2-ton truck can haul. She's the belle of the ball, Cincinnati Lou. She's gotta way of rolling those eyes makes me think of paradise. And I don't mean Heaven just a plain 'ole paradise. I'm telling you, Cincinnati Lou.
"I'm as lucky as can be, the world's greatest Dad belongs to me."
Oooey Gooey was a worm Oooey Gooey loved to squirm. One day Oooey got on the railroad track, and OOEEYY GOOEEYY | Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't very fuzzy wuz he? | There was an old mule, his name was Jack. Put him in a stable & he crawled out the crack.
Wherever you are, if a light goes out, you can pretty much bet that Dad had something to do with it. | ANTICS | We'd be out somewhere and Dad would pick up an old coke can tab. He'd ask "you know what this is?" Of course someone would answer "a coke tab". He'd say, "no it's a dog caller" then put it up to his mouth and say "Here doggie doggie".
If Dad walked up holding the back of his head, you knew he was just waiting for someone to ask what's wrong? And then Dad would say.... "I was washing my face and the toilet seat fell down on my head."
you give us fun times | you make us smile | YOU MAKE HAPPY MEMORIES | You Make Us Laugh | MOST OF ALL YOU MAKE US THANKFUL TO HAVE A WONDERFUL DAD
