1: Debbie, everyday was a beautiful, uncomplicated & positive person! She saw the good in everyone!! And like a butterfly, she quietly and beautifully made her presence known...gently & patiently fluttering her wings.

31: Three days after surgery, she's taking a walk in the beautiful Duke Gardens.

33: Debbie only got agitated & excited one time throughout her battle. And that was simply to get Kayla and I to get these pictures printed, so she could share them with everyone back home! This book is that task lovingly completed.

34: The day before we flew home, we spent the day at the beach. We had the whole beach to ourselves; we flew a kite, collected shells, and walked the beach.

115: Debbie was practicing her piano, while waiting to be admitted to Duke University Hospital. She figured she was having brain surgery, so maybe she might gain some new skills, ...and why not piano???

124: Debbie all dressed up for Sunday Church. | Waiting for her breakfast at the little restaurant next to our hotel. She was feeling good, even with her cheeks a bit swelled up, due to the steroids she took to reduce swelling.

126: We attended church at this beautiful Duke Chapel. During the service they sang the song It Is Well With My Soul When peace, like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like seas billows roll; Whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul.

129: Sisters share childhood memories & grown up dreams.

130: In February 2012, Debbie experienced headaches & disorientation. After an MRI, a tumor was discovered. This tumor had the name of Astrocytoma is a type of tumor that develops from star-shaped glial cells that support nerve cells. Her tumor was classified as a Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) Grade 4. Characteristics of a GBM: Most invasive type of glial tumor Commonly spreads to nearby tissue Grows Rapidly May be composed of several different kinds of cells May have evolved from a low-grade astrocytoma More common in men than woman Account for 17% of all primary brain tumors Treatment Standard treatment is surgery followed by radiation therepy or a combination of radiation and chemotherepy. Many clinical trials using radiation, chemo , or a combination are available for initial and recurrent GBM.

132: Beach Beauty just 4 days after brain surgery.

134: Debbie started using Ray's peace sign when we'd take her pic. Just to let everyone know that she was doing just fine!!

135: Debbie just waking up in Post Op... & Waiting for her meds at Walgreens.

136: Our flight home went very well. She enjoyed getting driven thru the airports!!

137: 2 days after coming home from her surgery at Duke University Hospital, Debbie suffered a stroke and was Med-Flighted back to Theda Clark Hospital. Her very short battle with brain cancer began and ended here.

139: Over 1000 friends, family, co-workers, sports teams, young & old, attended Debbies wake.
