S: Memories from 2011
In early February this year, Central Indiana got slammed with what I have dubbed, Iceapalooza. We got about 4 inches of solid ice and it certainly created a mess! The city practically shut down and for good reason!
In late February, we took a trip to Dallas. While we were there we toured the Sixth Floor Museum & the Grass Knoll. Now, I'm not one for enjoying history, but this museum fainted me. It was so interesting to learn about everything that happened with JFK and his family.
 Sixth Floor Museum
In Austin, we checked out Mt. Bonell for a beautiful sunset, walked around downtown & UT's Campus, and we even took a bike tour through the city.
Mellow Johnny's | Damon's first trip to Mellow Johnny's was a blast. Damon has a minor obsession with Lance Armstrong and was like a kid in a candy store checking everything out!
In April, Damon ran a half marathon with one of his co-workers and friends, Jason Littrel. The race was in Lowell, Ind and boy was it cold for April!! It was a super windy and frigid day, so they didn't get the time they wanted, but they still had a great run!
 MOVING TO AUSTIN
In May, we found out we were moving to Austin! We packed up everything we owned and headed 1,100+ miles across the country. With the help of our dads, a nasty motel room, and rental truck that was way too big, we made it to our new home.
We spent our first few weeks in Austin exploring. There is so much to do - and we took advantage of everything. We kayaked at Town Lake, went to a baseball game in Round Rock, visited the local farmers markets, went biking on the Veloway, went to the food trailers, watched the bats and so much more!
The Barton Creek Farmer's Market has the freshest fruits & veggies, live music, & delicious treats for everyone!
Barton Springs Pool | This pool is awesome! It is three acres in size, and is fed from under ground springs. The temperature average is about 68 degrees year round -- which sounds cold, but feels quite refreshing on a 100+ degree day!
In July we had some milestone birthdays.. Dad turned 50 and Ryan turned 25. We had a surprise birthday party for both of them with a cowboy theme. Lots of friends and family were able to make it out for a great time!
Happy Anniversary! It is amazing how quickly our first year of marriage has flown by. Damon planned a wonderful day for us. He woke me up to watch the sunrise on Mt Bonnell, then we stayed at the W downtown and went to Ruth's Chris for dinner. It was an amazing anniversary, and I can't wait to have many more together!
For Dozer's 1st birthday we took him swimming at Barton Creek, and it was a disaster!! I think he had fun, but we quickly learned that he cannot swim! Afterwards we took him to ice cream, his favorite :)
In November we had some visitors! While they were here, we showed them some of our favorite places - including Salt Lick!
We thought it would be a good idea to have Dozer go through training classes... he wasn't the worst in the class, but he was probably a close second. Somehow he graduated, but I think thats because they were sick of us!
Some pictures of Dozer through out the year!
Damon got his first buck (on accident). Somehow his bullet ricocheted off the doe's shoulder and then hit the buck too. Beginner's luck?
