FC: Alexis Nicole
I was in labor for 8 hours before we did a C-section, then about 10 minutes later we welcomed Alexis Nicole.
Alexis is now 3 months old, she and I have a close connection. She often studies my face and is beginning to take an interest in her surroundings. She has begun to giggle and develop her own cute little habits.
Alexis Nicole, 8 months old | Alexis loves playing the hiding game, she is able to find objects quite easily as long as she isn't distracted or waits too long. (Object permanence test). She's begun attached to me and cries when I drop her off at daycare, but stops quickly after. She is cautious around new people and warms up quickly. Alexis has trouble calming down and I need to watch how she is with her emotions. She can currently: crawl, sit-up, and stand; which is typical for her age.
Alexis is now a year old, when it comes to the object permanence test she is able to find the object quickly no-matter what. She can understand a couple dozen words as well as say a few herself. She can also point to an object in which she wants.
At 18 months Alexis is very active. She loves to dance around to music. She is currently becoming self aware. | At 19 months, she is very well potty trained. She loves to imitate actions and words of others. However, during an assessment we noticed she is very aggressive towards other children. She is securely attached, but is slow to warm up to others and new situations. She is aware of basic categories. Alexis scored in her age group for communication skill, language comprehension and language production. | Now at age 2 Alexis has developed her emotions, such as looking guilty when breaking something or shyly smiling when asked to take a picture. I just found out I was pregnant with a girl. She is fully potty trained now and getting ready to start a new preschool program.
My second child was born, Peyton, which Alexis loves to help take care of. There are times when she does get jealous. Alexis loves her new school and does really well in all subjects. However, she is still being aggressive with other children. | Alexis is 3 years old and has begun sports and activities. She learned to ride a bike and she plays soccer as well as does ballet. | At 4 Alexis loves to count everything! She also is well behaved in restaurants now.
Now around 5 years old Alexis is starting kindergarten. She has an amazing memory and can now even beat me during certain games. She recently broke her arm and is enjoying the extra attention. She is still advanced in school and really enjoys science and excels in math.
Alexis now 10. She has been involved in gymnastics and dance for the past few years and does very well. Her tests in school have come back average except for in science and math in which she excels in both. | She just had her first extended trip away from home; a science camping trip with school. She is excited to start the 6th grade. | During her assessments she came back cooperative with others and has strengths in english, science, math, and music. But needs to learn to control her emotions.
Alexis is now 13 years old... and getting ready to start the 9th grade. | As 9th grade begins she starts to become emotional, hard to calm down and extremely agitated. SHe wants to be left alone a lot in her room. | Alexis now 15 wants more freedom and begins to press her limits. However, I let her do what she pleases as long as her chores and schoolwork are already finished. Her grades slip, but she still does really well in math and science as she is in advanced classes.
Alexis is now 16 years old. She has begun hanging out with friends more often and doesn't want to be home. She tried out for her school dance team and made it. She plays piano and violin at school and is even the soloist. | She has begun to go to parties with her friends with boys and girls where drinking and whatnot is involved. I allow her to go as long as she doesn't drink and drive. She has even called me to pick her up from a party because she was drunk. | Her recently she's started hanging out with new friends that I don't care for, but I allow her to anyway so she is well rounded and able to make her own choices. | While I was putting away laundry in one of her drawers I found a bag of marijuana, however, didn't mention anything to her about it. She also just got in trouble because she scratched the car and didn't tell me right away.
Alexis now has a boyfriend who is older than her. I am okay with her dating him because he is overall a nice kid. He is also involved in sports and gets good grades, as well as making sure she is home on time. I warn Alexis about safe sex and let her know she can talk to me openly about sex.
Alexis and Peyton. | As Alexis enters her Junior year in high school she prepares for the SAT's. She recently took the PSAT's and didn't do as well as she would like.
 Alexis at the prom.
As Alexis finishes up with her junior year not much has changed. She still hangs out with the same group of kids. She still does dance for her schools team and plays piano and violin. However, as far as classes she's starting to slack off. As always she still has A's in her two honor classes: Physics and Algebra 2, so now during her senior year she can take AP Physics and Chemistry. In her Spanish, English, and American History classes she got B's. Her teachers believed with effort she could have gotten A's. | As senior year comes around I'm letting Alexis make more and more decisions on her own. She decides who she spends her time with and who she dates. On her SAT's she received in the top 15% in math and science, but average on verbal. Now it's time for Alexis to start applying to different colleges and finishing up with high school and getting ready to graduate and move on to college.
Alexis is now 18 years old and graduated from high school. She was accepted to a few in-state schools, one of which she decided to attend. During her senior year she was working part time at the local grocery store, now all of her hard work has paid off and she is being offered a promotion. I urge Alexis to save her money, but I am so proud of her and all of the hard work that she has put in.
Even now as she has grown and graduated from high school and started college she still remains very close to me. She seeks out advice or come to me when she has questions. | I guess its true what they say... | She'll always be mommy's little girl!
