This book is about my life. It includes some of my experiences and thoughts that I have conducted throughout my life. Some experiences, as well as thoughts, were very disturbing while others were wonderful. But, life is life. So, I dedicate this book to the fine people that gave me a chance on this earth. My parents. They gave me this life and I will share some of it with you.
My Name | Olivia, a very popular name, is what my parents decided to name me. After an exciting nine months of search, figuring, and waiting, they chose the name, Olivia. When I asked how they came up with that name, they told me that they were watching the end of a movie. When the credits came on the screen, they were searching for the lead's name. Her name was Olivia, and when my parents saw that name on the screen, they knew it was perfect for me. | They said the actress that shares my name, is like me in so many ways. We have similar looks and the same personality. So, ever since December 11, 1996,, i have been called Olivia, meaning a popular, warm-hearted, wonderful girl.
Lyndhurst | Lyndhurst is a close knit neighborhood. Everyone knows each other or knows of each other. When we pass each other on the streets, or in cars, or anywhere, we wave to each other. Usually, a conversation is started and carried on for a very long time. | All the houses have different appearances on the outside. But, the architecture on the inside is identical. It is up to the owner to decorate it with their own style. | Unfortunately, Lyndhurst is slowly becoming a neighborhood no one wants to be apart of. | Robberies, petnappings, and other un-neighborly events are taking place. Kids with bad reputations are all over and they are never doing something legal. Many people are trying to move out of the neighborhood, but, because of the economy, their houses are not selling. This leaves the neighbors to be in cranky moods. | When houses do sell, lazy, careless, and mean people move in. Unfortunately, Luckily, I have been around long enough to have made friends with the right people.
A Time I Got Into Trouble | I was in second grade and I was playing with my neighbor in her backyard. We played all sorts of games that we made up off the top of our heads. It was a school night and I could stay outside until eight. My bedtime was at nine. The game we decided to play was called 'Jobs'. It is where you pretend you have a job of your choice. I was a trouble maker when I was younger. I noticed that my neighbor had paint in her backyard. I decided to be a painter. The paint was unopened. I took a screwdriver and started to open the paint. I did not succeed in fully opening it. We decided that we did not want to play that game anymore so we left the paint half open. My sister wandered into her backyard. She saw the paint and started to pour it out through the small crack I had made. It got all over her. My parents told me that I had to come in for the rest of the night and go to bed. I was very mad and did not talk to my sister for a whole week.
Sophia | I had three sisters at the time. My mother announced that we were going to have a fourth. We were excited but also fustrated. How were we going to fit another person in our three bedroom home? My mother told me not to think so far into the future. Why? I asked. She told me I would find out soon. She was going to name the baby Sophia. It was very exciting and we all bragged to our friends that we were going to have another sister. We regretted doing that in the future. The day she was born, my sisters and I were aloud to stay home from school. Our teachers brought us our homework. We were wondering why all of these adults were doing so many favors for us. We slept in and when we woke up, our grandparents, aunts, and uncles were over.
Finally, late in the evening, our parents came through the door. With them, they carried a baby carrier. My sisters and I all held hands jumping up and down with excitement. Smiles were on everyones faces except my parents who looked annoyed. | This is what we looked like at the age our sister Sophia was born.
The Teddy Bear | The baby carrier was turned to face us. Smiles quickly faded and the look of confusion spread across everyone's face. The baby carrier was empty. Then it dawned on all of us all at the same time. This is why my mother said not to look into the future. This is why we regretted bragging to our friends. This is why the adults were being so nice to us. We never had a clue until that baby carrier was turned to face us. Sophia had died. | Tears rolled down everyone's faces but the tears seemed to dry up fast. Discussion between the adults took place and us kids listened in. Sophia died because she was born with a hole in her heart. The hole was too big for the heart to function or be fixed. She died an hour after birth. A teddy bear was given to us to remind us that she is still here on earth. She always will be.
