1: The life of James Weldon Johnson.

2: I was born on June 17, !871 in the city of Jachsonville, Florida. My mother was a teacher, and my father was a head waiter at a hotel. .

3: In 1895 I founded the Daily American newspaper. | In 1894 I recieved my bachelors degree. I the became the principle of Stanton High School.

4: In 1901 I decided to pursue a career in writing, I wrote many sons and poems such as "Lift Every Voice and Sing." My brother and I also wrote over 200 songs for Broad way.

5: In 1920, the NAACP appointed me executive secretary. In this position, I was able to bring attention to racism, lynching, and segregation. After ten years of serving as executive secretary, I resigned, and accepted a creative writing teaching position at Fisk University.

6: In 1927, he reissued his novel, The Autobiography of an Ex-Coloured Man. James Weldon Johnson died in 1963 after a train hit the car he was in.
