1: What a year 2011 was for our family! It started as usual busy as ever with Jamie's dance recital and Doug's tax season. We were able to fit in a couple of snowman building sessions though! Our winter became even busier as Elle became mobile first crawling and then walking. She was always into everything! Soon spring and summer came with the Girls' celebrating their 5th and 1st birthdays. Jamie had her party at the Rainbow Gardens Roller Rink on Crystal Lake. Everyone had a blast! Elle had a quieter birthday at home with all her grandparents. Shortly after that I had car engine trouble (it blew up) and we had to hurry and get a new engine before we left for the Schmitt family vacation in Traverse City. Elle was sick on vacation and had a fever the whole time. She never slept which meant none of us slept since we were stuffed in a small hotel room. Jamie was able to attend the YMCA camp for a week in Middleville. It was so hard to put my little girl on a bus and let her go so far away. She loved it and had a great time! Our boat broke in June and wasn't fixed until August! No boating for the Schmitt family this year! We took a trip to Mackinaw Island and stayed on the island for three nights. We had an amazing time with the kids! Elle managed to throw her pacifier off a horse drawn carriage ride right into a pile of horse poop. Doug had to go retrieve it. Our summer ended with my brother Lane passing away after a motorcycle accident. It was such a hard time for our family. School started in August for Jamie. She started Kindergarten at St. Charles. Blake started a pre-school Jump Start program at Cedar Crest. All of a sudden it was just Mommy and Elle at home! Not a good thing because Elle discovered she loved to be naughty! Halloween came fast and everyone was so excited. I took the day off of work to go to Jamie's school party. Jamie woke up Halloween morning throwing up. We not only missed the party but trick-or-treating with our friends the Dugans. We still took the kids to Daddy's work to pass out candy but they were so tired it was only about an hour. On Thanksgiving at the Schmitt's house Elle fell down the stairs. She had a huge goose egg. We ended up having to take her to the ER to make sure she was okay because she also got to stomach flu and was throwing up. Christmas came without anyone getting sick! We had an amazing Christmas! Jamie said all I want for Christmas is Love for my family. She got a barbie doll house too! Our year ended with a great big happy healthy family that we are thankful to God for everyday!
