I live in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in a nice little quiet neighborhood. I am a smart, kind, loving, and caring young girl. I really hope that you enjoy my magazine and continue to read!!! 2: Too Much Homework or Not Enough? | Many teachers give a tremendous amount of homework and I don’t feel that that’s the right thing to do. I understand that teachers want their students to be comfortable with the material they are learning but that doesn’t mean that kids need to be coming home each and every night with hours and hours of homework to do. Some kids don’t always have the time to do homework because of being involved with sports or after school activities and clubs. Then by the time they get home they aren’t left with very much time. Also, some teachers assign homework or review papers to students about the lesson learned that day and I feel that sometimes the teachers need to explain the lesson more. Many times the kids go home after school and start their homework and have to ask their parents or siblings for help because there wasn’t enough time spent on it in class.
That is one situation that always ends up happening to me with math so I know how some students feel. Often times when that happens, students don’t get to complete homework assignments and then they go to school the next day feeling kind of nervous because they think they will be yelled at because they didn’t finish the homework. Lastly, when kids are pressured down with homework, that makes them not be able to go outside with friends and play or run around. Kids need exercise too. They can’t be completely healthy if they don’t get the right amount of exercise. With that being said I honestly hope at least some people agree with me because its true, we really do get too much homework.

Mr. K.O. Letterlough!?!? | Julian Letterlough born December 25th, 1969 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to mother Daphne Letterlough and dad Wayne Williams, was a professional boxer more popularly known as Mr.KO for his many knock-outs. Julian was married to his wife Johanna R. Reales with 5 sons. He also had one sister and one brother, Samantha and Howard. One of his son’s Julian Jr. also boxed as well at KING’s Gym though he wasn’t professional. Letterlough’s head trainer was Marshall Kauffman. It was in 1998 at the age of 28 that he became a professional light heavyweight boxer with a height of 5ft 10in and a weight of 175 pounds. His Uncle, Samuel Letterlough, was his number one encouragement. Julian was always getting into trouble so Uncle Samuel said to him “boy you are always getting into trouble fighting out there on the street, why don’t you do something with those skills and make money.” So Letterlough decided to take his Uncle’s advice. Being undefeated within his first 16 fights was a huge success for Julian. On November 18th, 1999, shortly before fighting Darryl Hallowell at Glen Burnie, Letterlough said “the streets used to be my hustle;now its boxing.”
In 2001 he fought a tough fight with Julio Cesar Gonzalez where Gonzalez was down 3 times and Letterlough down 2 times although Gonzalez still won by decision. On June 19th, 2001 Mr.KO was featured on a promo for “Friday Night Fights” on ESPN with Max Kellerman saying “This guy’s never had a bad fight. He couldn’t find a bad fight if he tried.” Letterlough has an amazing record of 21 wins, 5 losses, and 3 drawn fights totaling up to 29 fights. He has won the NABO Light Heavyweight Title as well as the Pennsylvania State Light Heavyweight Title. In Julian’s last fight on October 1st at Riveredge he scored a knock-out victory against Adolpho Washington. Sadly on July 8th, 2005 Julian’s life tragically ended after being shot in the back in Reading, Pennsylvania. Trainer Kauffman says “He gave his all.” Though Julian only experienced roughly 7 years of professional boxing, he quickly became a favorite of many people not only because of his boxing skills but also because of his kind, gentle, and caring personality.

We all know Kesha is a very unique, crazy, and talented singer but do we really know her as well as we think we do? Kesha Rose Sebert was born on March 1st, 1987 in Los Angeles, California to Pebe Sebert, a single mother who struggled financially to support Kesha and her older brother Lagan. Kesha attended Franklin High School and Brentwood High School. She is known for being a famous pop singer and song writer. She was signed to Dr. Luke’s record label at the age of 18 in 2005. Kesha started out her career singing background vocals and writing songs for other singers. After being featured in Flo Rida’s #1 single “Right Round” in 2009 is when her breakthrough came. Her debut single “Tik Tok” released in late 2009, was the #1 song in 11 different countries. There was a concert held by Kesha on June 16th, 2010 in which all the proceeds went to victims of the May 2010 floods in Tennessee for people from Nashville. About $70,000 was raised from the event. By September 2010 Kesha had sold 2 million albums all over the world. 10: The book “13 Little Blue Envelopes” written by Maureen Johnson was published in 2006. It is the type of book that makes you want to keep reading. Once you start reading it, you won’t want to put the book down. The main character, Virginia “Ginny” Blackstone, is a teen who lives in the quiet New Jersey area. One day she mysteriously receives a package in the mail from her deceased, runaway Aunt Peg. The package contains 13 little blue envelopes inside. The first envelope gives her $1,000 in cash and tells her to take a one way flight to London. Each envelope after the first one gives her a task to complete or tells her to visit somewhere. Once she completes each task, she can open the next envelope. Would you open the envelopes and follow all the instructions? Furthermore, does Ginny open them in the correct order and do as the envelopes tell her? In my opinion I absolutely love this book. It’s very exciting and fun but at the same time it’s almost like a mystery. It keeps you wondering what is going to happen next and what the next envelope is going to tell Ginny to do. The theme of this book is “you never know what to expect in life.” Maureen Johnson, the author of “13 Little Blue Envelopes” mainly writes for young adults. She is from Philadelphia but she is a graduate from the University of Delaware. Johnson started her career in 2004 when her first book was published. | 13 Little Blue Envelopes
