2: Who is he? | Rene-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle (1643-1687) was a French explorer. He was sent by King Louis XIV (14) to travel south from Canada and sail down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico. He was the first European to travel the length of the Mississippi River (1682). His mission was to explore and establish fur-trade routes along the river.
3: & | What did he do? | La Salle established fur trading posts, and launched an expedition to give France power of the Great Lakes.
4: we made it | Why did he do it? | The reason La Salle launched an expedition was to give France control of the Great Lakes. While claiming the Mississippi River Valley for France.
5: What region did he explore? | La Salle explored the Mississippi River Valley. As he explored it he claimed he claimed it for France.
6: What are his accomplishments? | La Salle had several accomplishments that included claiming the Southwest Mississippi River Valley, Ohio, Illinois,and the Mississippi Rivers.
7: Who sponsored him? | The help La Salle got were mainly from King Louis X1V. And also from the Canadian people and from some people that he saw on the way.
8: How did they know where they are? | The explorers knew where they were because as they went they made a map. As other explorers traveled La Salle kept track of all the places and also marked his own.
