S: New York City December 2011

THE BIG APPLE | Our first glimpse of New York City | We learned that in NYC traffic laws are "just a suggestion". If there is an empty space of concrete it is considered part of the road. You do not wait for your light to turn green, you go when you see the moving traffic's light turn yellow. You drive with a foot on the brake & the other on the accelerator; it is punch the accelerator, punch the brake in a constant whip lash motion! And one hand continually rest on the horn.

We stayed at the Paramount Hotel Times Square

Times Square opened up in front of us only a 1/2 block from the Hotel

"Help me Tom Cruise! Help me Oprah Winfrey! Tom Cruise use your witchcraft......... I wanted to use this line but the doormen really scared me......There was a "Men in Black" feeling to this place with all the black tinted window Cadillac Escalades

Giant Red Christmas Balls on 6th Avenue across from Radio City Music Hall

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. You could smell it when you hit the block.

No, I did not get shoulder checked by that guy! LOL It was the first weekend after the lighting of the tree...there were so many people in the city to see the tree & decorations!!!

In the city that never sleeps, everyone needs a place to pray

St. Patrick's Cathedral NYC 5th Ave

"I am the Light of the World" Vigil candle lit In Memory of Chelsea Marie Frederic 12/29/1990

 2011

Wollman Central Park Ice Skating Rink

 Tiffany's 5th Ave & 57th St

 NYC at night

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Top of the Rock Observation Deck

The mirrors outside the elevators lit up with the weather | Signs of the city

Circle Line Tour to Statue of Liberty

New York City skyline from the Hudson River

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door. -Statue of Liberty | First glimpse of the Lady as she came into view over the top of the boat

The moment she came into view took my breathe away & I thought of all those who came to Ellis Island how they must have felt when she appeared into view.

 Brooklyn Bridge & Manhattan Bridge

UN Building with Chrysler Building in background

Engine Company 10 The 1st to respond on September 11, 2001 to the World Trade Center

09/11 Memorial Site The bronze panels display the names of all those lost in New York, Washington & Pennsylvania, as well as the 1993 truck bombing of the Trade Center

The 09/11 Memorial Site is such a powerful tribute to the lives that were lost. Viewing the names as the water falls down into the center opening brings forth the enormous tragedy that took place. It was a very emotional & very rewarding visit. | The new One World Trade Center

There is still a giant hole with which you can see the twisted metal

Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree all lit up It was breath taking

Broadway Rock of Ages at Helen Hayes Theater was fantastically, cheesy 80's fun that included Jello shots!

The Times Square New Year's Eve ball

Parking in the city. Hope you're not in a hurry to get your car!

We were above the clouds | One World Trade Center peaking above the clouds

Empire State Building Observation Deck is on the 86th Floor It was so cold that morning & foggy but the views were still breathtaking

Even the Empire State Building is fixed the Carey Frederic way...duct tape

 Texting from 86 stories high

Korilla BBQ was on the 2nd season of Great Food Truck Race. Korilla BBQ was disqualified for cheating in the 5th week. | We came upon a construction site being managed by Tishman Construction. Kyle & I used to work for Tishman

Kyle knew I really wanted to see the Trumpet Angels at the Rockefeller Center tree. On the last day just before we had to leave the city he helped me find them.

Kyle finally got a subway & train ride | The rock I deserve! | It was a whirlwind weekend & we ran on lack of sleep & adrenaline! But for an unexpected, quickly scheduled trip, we had so much fun & got to see everything we had on our list & took time to linger at the Top 5
