 First Day of School
September 2008 | It was so hard to believe that our big girl was starting kindergarten already! She seemed so old to us! We'd just spent the holiday weekend in South Haven having a great time and, apparently, being bit my mosquitos! Avery woke up with her eyes and face all swollen. She had welts on her face and body from all the bug bites. So, these adorable first day of school pictures are of our little Avery, even though they hardly look like her with the swollen face!
Mrs. Zuidema | First day of school! Avery woke up all puffy and swollen from the many mosquito bites she got the day before having fun playing outside during the holiday weekend. Poor thing! Had to give her Benadryl for her first day of school! Mrs. Zuidema is amazing! Avery (and I) loved her. The kids lined up outside, all waved to the parents, then in they went, leaving us parents standing outside. ~ ~ Empty ~ ~ I just stood there for a few minutes. Not wanting to leave without my little girl. Wondering if I should cry...or skip away happily? My baby started school today, and she did great! So confident, so sure, so excited, so ready. Me? I did not-so-great. My eyes welled, I held my head high, and walked down the path to my car...by myself. Alone. 10But happy, for now I get to show off my amazing little girl to another world! And I know they'll all adore her as much as I do.
Daddy wouldn't miss the first day! | Time to line up outside the classroom
GOAL! | Avery proudly shows off her first "Trophy" for playing soccer | Avery has dirt on her face from where the soccer ball hit her | Avery is so excited for her team | One of the few times Av actually kicked the ball! Usually, she just ran around where everyone else was running. She rarely even looked in the direction of the ball

Mrs. Austin | Most adorable school girl ever!
Here we are at the end of first grade field trip to the John Ball Zoo. Mommy got to go on the field trip with Avery. We had a tight squeeze fitting 4 first grade classes into 2 buses with the teachers and parents! What great fun the kids (and Mommy) had!
A New Class | It's time already for second grade orientation! While walking up to the school we ran into our neighbors and friends Emma Soda and Ella McKanna. Avery had kindergarten and first grade with them and this would be the first year in different classrooms. Mrs. Austin happened to be in her classroom and the girls all ran to her window to say "Hi", and that they missed her. Avery is excited to begin a new year with Mrs. Fowle and is really excited to be class with another great friend, Avery Burger. The two Avery's couldn't wait to tell Mrs. Fowle that they have the same name! There was so much excitement to begin this new year...
December 15, 2010 For their end of the year party, the Girl Scouts decided to spend the afternoon sledding. The crisp air was filled with so many giggles, laughs, screams, and flying snow! | Anna, Kennedy, Emma, Macy, Ella, Avery, and Michaela
Second Grade Walking Field Trip | Mrs. Fowle 2011 | his was the best field trip ever! What a blessing that I was able to spend this entire day with Avery and her class on this adventure. We started the day with a walk from school, across town, and over to NRMS where there was an old cemetary and the Little Red Schoolhouse. We spent hours exploring these and could have stayed much longer. Then we were off to the Historical Museum, lunch at the dam, then the fire and police stations. Along the way, historical houses and points of interest were learned. It was enjoyed by all...and we all needed foot rubs at the end of the day! | T
The girl scouts' last outing of the year was a bike ride down the White Pine Trail. They spent time playing at a park then biked to Rocky's for ice cream before riding back home.

First Day of | 3 | rd | Grade | Avery was very excited to start third grade. She was very happy to get one of the teachers that she wanted, Mrs. Nyeholt. Avery's friends Lauren, Emma Soda, Anna, and Hannah were in her class this year. Avery was excited to show off her big sister skills taking care of her sister who is starting kindergarten this year. She gets to go down to Addy's class and help her get onto the bus. My baby is growing up so fast!

Wow! Time is flying! Avery's already graduated elementary school! Sniff, Sniff. It's near impossible to put into only a few words all the emotions surrounding this milestone. Proud. That's the one word I'll talk about for this day. Avery and Hannah were chosen to give the 5th Grade Graduation Speech. Blew us AwAy! What an amazing speaker she was!! For days friends and strangers came up to tell us what a fantastic job she did. So proud of her sweet soul. Her maturity far beyond her years. Her big heart to involve and make every person feel special. Her eagerness to help everyone. So proud of her values. Her innocence. So proud of every single characteristic she possesses.
An Emotional Exit... | The fifth graders all gathered in the gym. There they wrote on banners giving advice to future classes, stating favorite memories, and what they hope for themselves for the future. They all said goodbye to each other. The gym was a mess of tears! Not Avery! She was all smiles. Nothing could make her cry. She was so excited for the future, she was ready for the future and didn't care to look back...
The Fifth Grade Tunnel | Addy, however, was a HOT mess! She was so upset! She cried so hard. She said she was so sad because her and Avery would never be in the same school again. She loves her sissy so.
