DIY Jack-O-Lantern Magnets
Before You Start:
When working with clay, it’s always a good idea to start with a clean workspace. This helps reduce the amount of lint and dust that could eventually end up in your clay. Give your workspace a good wipe down and wash your hands before getting started. And if you still see some impurities in the end, just pour some rubbing alcohol into a small cup and then dip a cotton swab into it and gently rub at the particles you see on your clay before baking. It works like magic! Just make sure the rubbing alcohol dries completely on the surface of your clay before placing it in the oven.
Step 1) Use a clay roller to roll out your clay and then use a small pumpkin cookie cutter to cut out as many pumpkin shapes as you like. Of course, wash your cookie-cutter thoroughly if you plan to use it to make cookies again.
Step 2) Bake your clay pumpkins according to package instructions. Once your pumpkins have completely cooled, paint them orange.
Step 3) When your paint has completely dried, paint green stems on top of your pumpkins and then use a yellow paint pen to add jack-o-lantern faces to each pumpkin. Paint pens are a great way to add small painted details to crafts because they give you a lot more control than a paintbrush.
Step 4) Once your jack-o-lantern faces have dried, use a heavy-duty glue to attach a magnet to the back of each pumpkin.
And that’s all there is to it! Display fun and festive Halloween crafts and cards on your fridge with your new handmade Jack-O-Lantern magnets!
