While this gingerbread man may look good enough to eat, there’s actually nothing edible about him at all. The ”icing” you see is called collage clay and it’s made to look exactly like real icing. Though you can’t eat it, you can pipe it onto crafts just like you would ice an actual cookie - though it dries hard and lasts for years. If you plan on making this craft, collage clay is a definite must for creating that real icing look!

Can you imagine receiving a gift in such a cute box? There’s always something special about gifting handmade. To learn how easy it is to make your own Gingerbread Man Gift Box this holiday season, keep on reading

What You’ll Need:

How To:

Step 1) Paint your gift box brown and allow it to dry completely.

Step 2) Using your collage clay, begin “icing” your gingerbread man by adding small loops onto his hands and feet. The collage clay kit comes with three different piping tips - star, round, and wavy - but be sure to use the round piping tip for this project. Also note that though the clay comes out completely smooth, it does harden once it’s completely dry.

If this is your first time working with collage clay, you can totally practice your piping beforehand on a separate piece of scrap paper or cardboard to get the hang of it. Be sure to supervise children - though it may look like real icing it’s definitely not edible!

Step 3) Pipe three buttons, two eyes, a mouth, and some hair onto your gingerbread man. Don’t worry about perfection and just have fun with it!

Step 4) Lastly, take your two pink pom poms and glue them onto your gingerbread man to create two rosy cheeks. Allow the collage clay to dry completely on your box and then fill it with wrapped candies or small gifts for someone special!
