DIY Ombre Travel Photo Book Organizer

DIY Ombre Travel Photo Book Organizer

Capturing travel and vacation photos is the best souvenir of all, and even better when they’re well organized! Mixbook and Plaid are partnering to bring you truly custom DIY ideas, starting with a DIY Ombre Travel Photo Book Organizer to store your collection of Travel Photo Books. Using an inexpensive napkin holder, we painted a super easy ombre using FolkArt - here’s how to make it!

Supplies

Instructions

Base coat wood napkin holder with FolkArt Home Decor Chalk in Sheepskin. Allow two hours drying time. Next, paint 3 horizontal stripes: Starting at the base, use FolkArt to paint Pink Melon, Pink, and then Cameo Blush at the top. Leave about a ¼” space between each color.

Create an ombre fade between colors. Generously load left half of your brush with Pink Melon and the right side of your brush with Pink. Paint over the space between the bottom two colors. Paint in a repetitive horizontal motion to help blend colors to create an easy ombre! Repeat the step with Pink and Cameo Blush to blend the top two colors.

We love the idea of painting a coordinating wooden box using the same ombre technique to store more mementos, don’t you? We also used Mod Podge to add more mementos directly within our travel photo book - think ticket stubs, stamps and other souvenirs - for a truly custom book. If you’ve never used Mod Podge before, it’s a quick drying glue, sealer and finish all-in-one.

Incorporate ticket stubs and other travel memorabilia into the pages of your photo book by decoupaging items into your Travel Photo Book, and add some glitter with Mod Podge Sparkle to highlight certain photos or pages. Allow one hour dry time before closing book or embellishing next spread.
