Help Make a Difference for Ukrainian Refugees

We’re devastated by what’s happening to the people of Ukraine and surrounding countries. Mixbook is donating 1% of all sales to support Ukrainian refugees. Our Moldovan team has been working with local resources on the ground to provide essential needs including personal care items, cots, and emergency supplies. Although our hearts are broken by these events, we are incredibly grateful for the kindness, care, and courage of our team and the people of Ukraine. Join us in providing support to Ukrainian refugees.

A Message from our CEO and Co-Founder

Hi Mixbookers,

We’ve all been horrified by the conflict in Ukraine, and in this age of social media, we’re watching it play out live on our screens 24/7.  Over 1.5 million refugees have already had their lives uprooted and left everything behind to find peace and refuge elsewhere. The UN is projecting a total of 3-5 million refugees in this conflict, mostly women and children, since men are largely not allowed to leave in the middle of the war. We’re heartbroken by this tragedy and have decided to direct 1% of sales to aid Ukrainian refugees on the ground with emergency supplies, housing, and healthcare.

Why does Mixbook care?

For Mixbook, this conflict has a very personal nature. In 2015, Mixbook’s co-founder and CTO moved to Moldova to establish a development office. Moldova’s capital, Chisinau, is only a few hours’ drive from his parent's hometown. Today, most of Mixbook’s development team is based there. You’ve probably heard the name Moldova mentioned in the news because like Ukraine, Moldova is a former Soviet Republic with no allies and a breakaway region heavily influenced by Russia.

I’m so proud of how our team on the ground has responded by living out our core value of CARE. Every one of our teammates has friends or family in Ukraine. Most of our team has already housed refugees in their homes or helped them transit across the border into Romania and the EU. We’ve opened our office for refugee workers to have a peaceful place to work. We’ve been able to provide alternate accommodations and emergency supplies to our team and their families. We are now helping to procure supplies for the 250k+ Ukrainian refugees already in Moldova as well as the expected influx of refugees to come as the conflict continues.

Your order helps support Ukrainian refugees with meeting immediate tangible needs with items such as personal essentials, cots, medical supplies, and food. If you, like many of us, are looking for more ways to support our neighbors in Ukraine, we suggest the following organizations that are doing fantastic work on the ground:

  • Moldova World Children's Fund:  a North Carolina based non-profit organization raising money for Ukrainian families seeking asylum, warm food, blankets, basic goods, transportation, medical care, a new home, and safety in Moldova.
  • The UN Refugee Agency: The UNHCR is providing humanitarian assistance on the ground in Ukraine, and working with neighboring countries to keep borders open for refugees. Donations provide them with shelter, food, water, blankets, and medical supplies.
  • Save the Children: Donations help keep children fed and warm on the ground in Ukraine.
  • Vostok-SOS: This volunteer initiative is helping evacuate Ukrainian refugees from the country.
  • Voices of Children: Provides psychological and psychosocial support to children to help them overcome the consequences of armed conflict. Thank you for your support in this time of global crisis. I am so grateful for every one of you: your care and creativity matter now more than ever.

With love, Andrew Laffoon, CEO & Co-Founder
