Adorable ideas for a “people who love me” baby book

The first things a baby ever learns are the feelings of being loved, held close, and cared for. Long before babbling their first words or taking those wobbly first steps, an infant learns to recognize the faces, voices, and comforting touch of their parents and other loved ones. That’s why a “people who love me” baby book is such a popular and meaningful concept.
When family and friends are gathered around a baby, there’s a chorus of “I’m your auntie!” and
“I’m your dad’s best friend,” and “can you say Grandma?!” A “people who love me” baby book filled with names and faces is a sweet facsimile of these kinds of in-person gatherings. Reading a custom baby memory book to your little one lets them know they are loved by so many people, both near and far.

Choosing photos for a “people who love me” baby book
Planning the content for a “people who love me” baby book is very simple. You just need a good photo of each person you want to include in the book. Write a list of everyone who loves your baby—family members, friends, and perhaps pets as well. Start with parents and siblings, then add grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Add any other family members, friends, and caregivers who will be in your child’s life.
Next, find the best photos of each of those people who love your baby. A photo that clearly shows the person’s smiling face is ideal. Try to find recent photos so that your baby learns to recognize the loved one from their book.
It’s generally better to feature individual photos for all the key people, but you might choose certain group photos or couple’s photos as well. For example, your baby’s cousins who are siblings to each other could be pictured together, and so could married pairs.
Photos should have a good-enough resolution to be printed as large as possible without becoming blurry.
The best layouts for baby books
The layouts for “people who love me” baby books should be simple, with large-scale design elements that are easier for a baby or child to see. Layouts that fit the concept could feature one single photo and one large-text caption per page, or two-page spreads with a single photo on one side and large text on the other side.
If you do want to include multiple people/photos on a page or spread, choose layouts that keep the photos as big as possible. This will generally limit the number of photos to a maximum of three or four per page or spread. Be sure to include enough space for large-size text and any decorative elements like stickers and fun frames.
A fun option is to group photos by household or other groupings that make sense for your unique family and social circle. For example, a two-page spread could be titled “Who lives at Grandma and Grandad’s house?” and feature the people and pets in that household. Others could be “The Jones Family” or “My Mom’s Three Sisters.”
What to write in a “people who love me” baby book
The simplest version of a “people who love me” baby book will just include each person’s name—whatever your child will call them—alongside their photograph. When you read the book to your baby, you can say more about the people featured in the book and tell stories about them.
However, you might also choose to build upon the basic concept and add other pieces of text. It could be a brief few words about the person e.g. “Aunt Charlie is Dad’s big sister,” or “Maria has been Mom’s best friend ever since they were little kids,” or “Cousin Ben can’t wait to play baseball with you.”
Also consider including brief personal messages from some of all of the people featured in the book. These kinds of messages of love to a new baby will turn the book into a sentimental treasure as your child gets older. You can even invite others to write messages directly in your book project using Mixbook’s collaboration features. For a playful take on this idea, browse stickers for speech bubbles to arrange next to photos.
