3 Great Ideas for a Staycation

Traveling is a favorite hobby of the Mixbook team. We often talk about going to exotic locations all over the world, but we've found that short weekend trips can be just as fun!  If you're feeling the need to get away but are short on time and money, consider the weekend escapes below: 1. National Parks

From quiet, mysterious deserts to soaring mountain ranges, there is so much nature to explore.  Check out the National Park Service website (www.nps.gov) to find national parks in your state and start planning an adventure.  Parks are great for day trips with friends or family, and the cost of admission is usually free.  If you're feeling the itch to play outside, tie on your walking shoes and grab your camera.  You will definitely want to capture the stunning views, and Mixbook has a great outdoors theme for your photo book!

2. Local Sites

If you're more urban-inclined, try spending the weekend in a local city and spend some time sightseeing.  You can stick to your budget by taking public transportation and checking deal sites for discount rates on hotel rooms and gourmet restaurants.  Embrace your inner tourist and immerse yourself in the city.  Don't forget to snap some pictures for your friends!

3. Festivals

If you've had a crazy week and want to take it easy on the weekend, consider going to a local festival.  You get to spend time outside, slowly perusing stalls of goods and munching on delicious festival food while people-watching.  Take plenty of pictures for your summer photo book, and be sure to carry a little cash so if you find something you'd like to purchase, you don't have to go out of your way to find an ATM.

Don't Forget to Capture Your Memories!

Even though you may not have traveled far, include your weekend memories in a special Mixbook photo book to share with friends and family.  There are so many fun themes available that you're sure to find that perfect design.  If you need some inspiration, check out these great examples from your fellow Mixbook users!
