The Travel Collection’s versatile aesthetic
The individual themes in our Travel Collection are designed to represent specific destinations. These range from the tropics to the frozen north, and from major cities to pristine wilderness. However, the collection is united by a cohesive and versatile aesthetic. Uniting all the themes in the collection are the following design features:
- Backgrounds: Variations of subtle, abstract map pattern in pale graphite over white backgrounds feature throughout the collection.
- Typography: The themes feature contemporary typography in a signature, fine-lined serif font in all-caps. Text elements include page headers, smaller captions, travel-inspired phrases, and minimalist accents of vertical bars and slashes.
- Layouts: Travel Collection themes offer diverse, visually interesting photo layouts with spots for square, portrait, and landscape formats. Layouts include full-page showcases, neat grids, and balanced compositions for up to six photos per page or spread.
Custom sticker collections for color and spark
Adding a touch of color and whimsy to the Travel Collection are sticker sets unique to each theme. These hand-drawn illustrations strike a perfect balance between cute and chic.
Each theme’s sticker collection matches its destination and typically includes flags, flora and fauna, landmarks and landforms, foods and drinks, and modes of transport. Examples include icons like NYC’s yellow taxis and Statue of Liberty, Greece’s olives and ancient columns, and Canada’s maple syrup and mountain peaks.
Stickers are resizable, and you can move, replace, or add any stickers anywhere you like in your book. You can also edit the colors of stickers. Find them in the Mixbook Studio™ Stickers panel.
Inspiring content ideas
Travel Collection themes include several content prompts for you to customize. These include suggestions for pages dedicated to particular points of interest in each destination, with text and sticker selections to match. For example, the England theme includes spreads for Big Ben and Stonehenge, Nashville has the Grand Ole Opry House and Country Music Hall of Fame, and Italy features Rome, Tuscany, and Lake Como. It’s very easy to switch out the suggested text and stickers for others that match your own itinerary.
Select pages in each theme feature placeholder travel-inspired phrases to accent your photo spreads. Examples include “Let’s Get Away,” “Let’s Be Adventurous” and “Best Day Ever.” Simply click on the text boxes to replace them with your own preferred phrases.
Each Travel Collection theme starts with a “First Day” page and ends with a “Last Day” page, with a caption for you to describe what you did during those days. Use these suggested pages as pleasing bookends to the story of your vacation.
Another feature in every Travel Collection theme is a two-page spread for “Top 5 Memories.” The grid layout is designed to pair matching pics with your choices for those stand-out moments. It also includes text boxes for writing a few words about each one.
Each theme features a page for choosing your favorite culinary treats. These vary by county, with a “best drink at pub” for England, “best tacos” for Los Angeles, and “best sangria” in Spain, for example. Customize this food-themed page to match your best memories of eating and drinking on vacation.
Customize any Travel Collection theme for multi-destination travel
While the Travel Collection themes focus on single countries or cities, it’s also easy to customize them to include multiple destinations. In Mixbook Studio™, simply edit the cover page text and page headers to match your own unique itinerary.
You can also get access to stickers from themes other than the one you started with. Here’s how:
1. Open a photo book theme that matches one of your travel destinations. In this example, we’re making a book of photos from a road trip in California that included Los Angeles and San Francisco. Start by opening the Los Angeles Travel Collection theme in Mixbook Studio™.
2. Open the Themes panel and locate the thumbnail for the San Francisco Travel Collection theme. Click on the thumbnail.
3. In the pop-up window, click the “Add theme to My project” button. This will give you access to the stickers, layouts, and backgrounds of the San Francisco theme while still working in the original Los Angeles theme in the Studio.
4. Open the Stickers panel in Mixbook Studio™. You will see the San Francisco sticker set, ready to use in your project.
