Interactive Mixbook Project Ideas for Kids

Create professional-grade photo books designed by the true stars of your show: your kids. Let their creativity run wild and build a custom photo book from scratch or check out one of these great themes and templates:

Custom Art Books to Showcase Your Kids' Talents

Fill the pages of a custom, professionally printed book with your children's drawings, paintings, and sculptures - but don't forget to include the fun part: photos of your children making the art. Scribbles, musical instrument practice, and even baking are great memories to capture in a custom art book

Creative Tips

•   Capture photos of your children getting messy with paint, scrawling beautiful works with sidewalk chalk or stirring cupcake batter in the kitchen.

•   Snap pictures of the final product so you can see the whole creative process in action.

•   Add interest by including text about the project on the opposing page. For example, if your little one decorates the entire driveway, write about his or her process, or include a few funny quotes or moments

Rainbow Books That Splash Across the Creative Spectrum

Teach your children how to take photos of items around the house to create a rainbow book. You can send them on color-specific hunts - like "Find three things that are red!" - and let them use their own creative skills to arrange and photograph items. Then, upload your pictures and create a rainbow book in Roy G. Biv order.

Creative Tips

•   Correlate numbers with colors. For example, choose one red item; two orange items; three yellow items and so on.

•   Have your children take a photo of all the items in color order - or in the shape of a rainbow - for the front cover.

Learning the Alphabet in a New Way

You can teach your children the alphabet with their own custom alphabet book. Spend time together photographing things around the house to fill in each letter’s page. It’ll be a fun and interactive way to learn, a photography lesson, and a scavenger hunt all rolled into one!

Creative Tips

•   Having trouble finding objects that match certain letters? Use this opportunity to teach them emotions or other words that aren’t people, places, or things. ( “Z” for zesty or “V” for velvet)

Story Books to Tell Your Children's Tales

Let your little ones test their authoring and illustrative skills by creating a personalized storybook. You can spread out the text as much as you'd like - or condense it - to create a professionally published book written by your child. You can add stickers and illustrations to a template or upload your child's own art to accompany the story.

Creative Tips

•   Have your child write the story first - before formatting your book - so he or she isn't limited by formatting. Then, you can create the book around the story (instead of vice-versa).

•   Let your kids choose their own font styles and designs.

•   Add a few photos of your child writing or illustrating to the back of the book to make it even more memorable.
