Photo Book Paper Types
Hey there photo book maker! We wanted to cover a very important topic that's commonly requested from excited creators like you: paper! You know what they say, never judge a book by the cover (although our covers are pretty attractive), it's what's on the inside that counts! Our photo books come in three versatile paper types, great for many different occasions.
Let's recap the different paper stocks available for your next photo book.
Semi Gloss is our standard photo book paper. Classic, smooth, with a subtle gloss. You can say this is our recommended go-to, dependable paper stock. In detail, we use a silk, semi-gloss, 100 lb. paper that is both acid and lignin-free. This paper is great for guest books, everyday photo books, and most other occasions. As for markers, use an acid free one if you're planning on writing in your book.
Looking for a little luster to add to your photo book? Our Pearl Finish paper adds a silky shimmer to pages. This is a really fun paper type to add to celebration-themed photo books, like birthday parties. This paper type works really well with certain photo book themes as well. If your chosen theme has gold accents, jewel tones/illustrations, metallic designs, themes like Lucky Stars or Everyday Metallics, the Pear Finish will highlight the designs and make it pop.
Premium Lay Flat
Ultra-thick premium paper, with a luxe matte finish! Unlike a traditionally bound book, each spread in your book is printed on an uncut sheet of premium, acid-free and archival paper backed by cardstock. The finished pages have a heavy feel, and the individual pages do not bend easily. When your book is open, the book lays flat, and you do not need to hold the individual pages down. As the center binding is one sheet of paper and not two, there are no concerns about having your designs or photos be lost in the 'gutter' or the center of the book. Go on, we encourage you to showcase your high resolution photos in double-page spreads!
You'll be blown away by how beautiful our lay flat photo books are. This is our recommended paper for extra important occasions such as weddings, retirement, celebrations of life, birth, or professional portfolios.
As always, all our paper types are available to you for customization. Paired with our cover options and beautifully designed themes, you'll be able to create the perfect photo book. Learn more and get started here!
