A great argument could be made that summers are for kids. School’s out, the sun’s out, and the kids are out having fun. As the days grow longer, fun is on the mind of every kid from one to 84. Why not be creative with your family fun this year? There’s no reason at all for young ones to do the exact same things they did last year. Memories are bigger and better when you’re trying new stuff.
At Mixbook, we’ve thought long and hard about this, and we have come up with an idea or two—actually, make that 15!---for cool and exciting activities that will live on in your kids’ memories for years to come. Here it is: The ultimate kid's summer bucket list for timeless fun in the sun.
Being outdoors is the name of the game
According to Danette Glassy, MD, FAAP and Pooja Tandon, MD, FAAP of Healthychildren.org, “Getting outside provides more than a fun break for children and teenagers. It is also good for their physical and mental health and development.” They tell us that kids who spend time playing outside in nature can be physically healthier, more engaged in learning, more positive in behavior and mood, and mentally healthier.
And once you separate kids from their screens, they love outdoor adventures. This summer, the best gift you can give your kids is to get them outside, having old-fashioned fun. And that’s why we’ve stuffed our Mixbook summer bucket list for kids with the funnest outdoor activities as we could think of. (We realize summer weather isn’t always blue skies, so we do include some "rainy day" activities as well.)
Safe to say that all of the ideas on our summer bucket list for kids are boatloads of fun. Keep your camera close at hand to snap the smiles on your kids' faces for photo reminders to treasure later.
